How Will Clans Work Out?

Create a clan and recruit people in game by a click of a button or they can join on forums
have a private clan chat room
have a private clan forum
30 players per clan

How Will Games Be Played

Join the "Clan Match Room" and pick someone to play then create a game and put it under clan match then invite the player from the other clan to play you. (just like friendly, ranked matches)

The game will be first to 3.
you can not play the same person over and over
you can play others from that clan or a different clan

How To Keep Track Of Games/Points

The games and points will go onto your profile
e.g
2 points per win -1 for a lose

(Clan name here)
(game type) (8 ball,9ball etc)
Clan points won: 800
Clan points lost: 20
Clan Wins: 100
Clan Losses: 60
Total Clan Points: 2170 (your clans total points)

This is only a idea of what it can be like

What Do You Think?

I persoally think that there is nothing wrong with the way the clans are run at the moment.
With regards to stats on a persons profile i think it will just make profiles look messy, say if it waws under overal stats. I think that would work if there was another tab for clans next to events.

Your points may be of some value if the clan leagues were to take a more serious route but for now i think it is fine the way it is

totally agreed the way it is run now is by clan members for clan players,it is tight knit community and personally would not like an automated system as there as to be flexibilty regarding what and when games are played

I think some kind of automated system would be a good idea.

For a start we could rule out any fly by night players who continually abandon accounts and let their team mates down at the same time. This could be made possible by implementing a system where only longer serving members have the option to join a clan.

By long term i'm talking along the lines of 3 to 6 months.

This would give new members something to aim for when joining the game for the first time and prevent 'newbie pros' getting the benefits that others deserve. Another benefit would be stopping recently banned players joining a clan (Only to be banned again) with 'my new account' when they know full well they shouldn't be on the site.

Tournaments were automated at some point in time and are a great success, so why not do the same with clan leagues?

Because of the influenceable nature of clan competition? A tourney can run successfully in the space of a couple of hours and is straight knockout. A clan involves multiple opponents in multiple game types. This complicates things somewhat. Also, a tourney can be entered on the whim of a player. A clan would demand all players to be in a certain place at a certain time.

However, this would hold true unless there were a flexible system by which players could be invited to a clan match when both are logged on.

I totally agree with you they they are working fine at the moment but it would be much better if it did become a more professional event.

Perhaps the system could take note of declined invites if the games are not played within a certain time frame and deduct/add points accordingly?

I think it would be easier to add doubles games with the clan stability?

Well said, i do think this would be a huge benefit with regards to banned players as you menioned.

However i am still slightly against the clan league taking a more professional approach as many only play for fun

^^ Done well, an automated system should increase the fun in taking part, as it would eliminate a lot of the frustrations and hassle in keeping clan events running.

People are much more likely to play games on time if they know the cutoff is automatic, and can't be argued about on the forums.

but the problem is that how hard is it to implement?

I like the arguments on the forums anyway...

at the end of the day, clans are goign to break up most likley when they lose and come last

I think if we had shorter seasons, and bring back divisions with smaller divisions - people will be happier.

I dont want it to go that way, I like the big league...but when our clan started sliding, I found it harder to get players coming back in the last couple of weeks

Not that hard to implement cause the code is already there for it just a few changes needs to be done to it
