Just wondering what people are most into; doing well in tournies or achieving a good rank? I rarely take part in tournies, the byes really annoy me, I just go for a good 8uk rank (and not doing too well on that one right now!).

Tourney's for me. I don't like ranked much at all. The good thing with tourneys is that you can be drawn against either a poor player, or a great one, and I like that variety. I think it also helps new players more, as they get important practice against good opponents, instead of playing other newbs in ranked.
Tourneys all the way for me

Same reason I have....
I feel tournement wins is more of an achivment for me anyway, when you look at great players like lady and bastilla, they can do both, have good high rank and many tournement wins,As long as i keep my rank above 800 i dont care after that...

I go back and forth between them, not overly fussed about either at the minute, but my attitude changes daily lol.

I've achieved all I want to do in rank, and that's fine by me.
I still like tourneys and I loved the way I could enter a tourney on a whim (Feb 9) and just win it with no fuss.
But to each their own. A high rank demands a lot of patience and time, because a high rank decays over time. Takes a lot to keep a rank at 900+.

I get too wound up when I play ranked, that's why all my ranks are dropping to 800.
I usually enter at least one tournament when I'm online, if I win, I win, if I don't, I don't

Im not overly fussed about either either. I used to like rank but it bores me now, tournaments are more a test of endurance, i find that by the time i get to the final im bored of playing.
I just come here for the offline events like clans and the banter with a good set of people

Funny how your thoughts have changed after the overall ranking system was changed MMT .
Always been rank for me, as you can have long races where I have tended to play my best stuff. Tourneys are too much of a short sprint and there's too much waiting around in-between rounds. The standard of opposition is in general worse too. Its also gutting when you lose a semi or a final and have nothing to show for a couple of hours of your life that you've wasted

Tournaments for me.
You have no choice on who you play, you MUST play what is put in-front of you if you want to proceed. You have to adapt to different types of players and you have got to keep concentration, you can't shoot off for a little while because you feel like your missing a couple of pots, you have to compose yourself, get back to basics and pull through it. Then move on to the next round and find some form
I've won some 'gimme' tournaments, I wont argue otherwise, but I had to concentrate and make sure I didn't lose the game, as anything can happen on here. Other times I have beat some damn good players in nearly every round. I know when I'm playing good on here, I might go on to win 10-15 tournaments in a week (been a while lol) but I can also go over a month without one, because I'm not playing good enough, for whatever reason. Where as I'm still in the top 25 in US -ball, even though I aint won a tournament for yonks. So I see them as more of a test, and I get more satisifaction out of doing well in them, than anything else on here.
