Change the firewall settings on your router perhaps? Limewire can't operate behind a firewall. I had to turn off my router's firewall to get my xbox live going too.

All you have to do is add the application to your firewall's exceptions. Turning it of is a very dodgy thing to do, but thats up to you

I didn't turn off my computers firewall, just the firewall on my router settings. Probably still not exactly safe but I was desperate to get on Xbox live!

If you're using windows, go to control panel, firewall, exceptions, then add limewire to the list.

Your asking for trouble using Limewire if your using the basic music stealing service.

I've never been a fan of Limewire, it's awful.

There's too many fake files and viruses on there, not worth the trouble IMO.

It will be similar to adding to the wondows firewall, but will vary from one router to the next, so you'll have to look up the manual I'm afraid.

Also remeber many ISP's block P2P software like Limewire now, so it might not even be at your end.

It's easy to spot fake files from the real ones. With songs, for example, the length of the song will show up and you can check this against the song length on wikipedia. Anyway, the fake files tend to be the first results that come up (impossibly fast) and are much smaller than other files (a few hundred KBs compare to a few MBs) so they're pretty easy to spot. As you can tell, I'm a limewire fan (a disgruntled one at that, 'cos Limewire and its ilk are being policed much heavier over here in Ireland since last month). Don't judge .

Sorry about straying of topic...
