if 6 people out of say 20 were to elect to play games instead of a bye, yet only 2 games (so four players) are needed, then the other two will miss out and you are still doing nothing - which resolves nothing.

Not quite. At least then 4 players out of the 6 would have got their wish; as it stands, the chances are that 0 out of those 6 would get a bye. Or maybe 1, I dunno.

I was going to put this earlier, but elected against it as i thought it might escalate the 'disagreement', but;

Using that example, if 4 people play who chose that as an option, then the 'funkypool happiness meter' would be at 90% with only two people not getting what they would have liked.

Under the current system that could drop to 70% leaving up to six unhappy bunnies.

More has been resolved, and more smiley faces are around, at least untill people start going out

As I said before, a game wouldn't be guaranteed, just the chances of getting one increased.

As a random afterthought to that:

As 16 people would be required for the next round in order to make the tournament balanced for the run in to the final....

Eight people would have to play, four games for the round.

Inputting that into the ''funkypool calculator of fun'' equates to:

90% 'smiley factor' as two people who would prefer a bye dont get one, guaranteed.

The flip side being a 60% 'smiley factor', worse case scenario obviously, as currently is with the system.

I know this may seem a bit pedantic, but I had three byes in a row in the UK tournament and it popped into my head......

If only there was an opt out system eh?

EDIT:

Additional afterthought, as no-one expects a bye, you could say that it's 100 % 'smiley' because you've got to be in it to win it.

or insted of all of these percentages that is really confusing, just wait 22 minutes??

why go to all the trouble to makejust a few people happy per hour.

Byes happen, its one of those things that will always be around.

*Sigh*

Forget it, lets just agree to disagree and have done with it.

dont just give up because I disagree. I have my own opinions and I think that it will be a waste of time to nick to have to go through so much just so people dont have to wait a little longer to play 3 games.

If someone brings up a good point, then it may change my mind. But I stick to my guns until there is a good argument that you just cant fight against.
