His name was joe_upson, he came from nowhere to win the 22:00 8 Ball UK Marathon Tournament on 29 Dec 08 (01:21 Tue 30/12/08 when he clinched it), and apart from the bye in round 1, every match went to the wire. And his opponents weren't pushovers either...
Round 1 BYE
Round 2 blink182rip 2 - 3 joe_upson
Round 3 robinho1987 2 - 3 joe_upson
Round 4 joe_upson 3 - 2 hotstuby (28 tournament wins)
Quarter-finals giggsy 2 - 3 joe_upson
Semi-finals joe_upson 4 - 3 alhusky (896.0, 24 tournies)
Final joe_upson 5 - 4 only1aphex
Frames won: 21
Frames lost: 15
Anyone else know of a tournament win where the winner was brought to the brink in every round?

good spot cloone, i find myself doing similar things, need to find a funkypool anonymous group meeting soon. As someone recently said to me, if one existed it would probably consist of a lot of 14 year girls and I would be done as part of a News of the World sting.

Like the times say, it was the 22:00 tourney, so it kicked off at 22:10 and ended with his win at 01:21 the following morning, 3 hours and 11 minutes later. Note also that he had a bye in round 1, so the first of the six matches probably began at around 22:30, meaning that he would have been playing for a little under three hours.
