And just a few weeks ago, our local council had a vote on installing a $5000 swing for people in wheelchairs.

The council orginally declined the plan in saying "it may offend abled bodied people that they cant use the swing".

The council decided to put the swing in 5 days later after public backlash - it was installed within a week!

I personally think that this whole "racist row" with Prince Charles and Prince Harry is a little too much.

Has the world come to a point where good friends cant even give each other nicknames? Dont you think that "word removed as it's not his name, he didn't agree to that being his name so you have no right to call him by that name" would say something if he didnt liked being called that?

And then with Prince Charles calling his Indain friend "Sooty"; everyone EXCEPT "Sooty" is offended?

how can others be offended (mainly Caucasion people) when they are not invovled with it whatsoever?

So should I be offended to be called an Aussie and are the days of callig my good New Zeland friends a Kiwi over?

ok, it appears that "pakii" spelt correctly is blocked. is there a reason for this that I am not aware of? shouldnt "Aussie" be blocked as well if we are going to block abbreviations of countrymen?

I don't know how it is for you over in Australia, but the abbreviated word for someone from Pakistan is used as a derogatory, racist and offensive name. I'm hoping that you've just never come across this terminology before as I'd be quite perplexed if you couldn't understand why the abbreviated word is blocked.

If you don't understand type it in google and I'm sure you'll get some British history lesson. Then you'll be closer to understanding why the said word is blocked.

As for the Harry incident. The outcry is because the person whom he used the word against didn't know it was being used. Or so certain assertions would say. Charles is totally different. He used his nickname with a good friend, and Charles has always been a good ambassador to Britain's multi-cultural society - so I think it's safe to say he's not racist. The same could be said for Harry; the amount of work he does in Africa would indicate he isn't so much racist, as just plain ignorant.

the 'ball boy' at the tennis was changed to 'ball kid'. fair enough - guys and girls....

apparantly because there are some older teenagers there, they are now called 'ball persons'.

stupid isnt it?
