Two tourneys today without a winner (Not found) 8ball UK, 15:00 and 8ball US, 20:00. - They were played though, and got Slow Penalty.

Intentional delay of player/s who prefer to both get DQ than lose? It is not prohibited but that ?strategy? loses the ?funky? side of the games.

Your thought on this??

Could also be the two players playing a very defensive final, leading them to running out of time. Must be so disappointing to go all that way and lose on a double DQ

Yet another good example of why we desperately need a chess clock system for tournament game rounds, not only finals, but for all tourny games.

Yeah, both finals had davidsylvian in it who is quite a defensive player, so I'm sure there was no intention of "running down the clock" to prevent defeat, although I can't be sure.

I played him in the marathon final today and halfway through the match was thinking that we may run out of time...Luckily I managed to win 5-2, if it had went 5-4 there may have been another "winner not found". That is all.

Ah noooo . Never mind lady number 186 will just be around the corner I'm sure . As long as everything was above board (i.e. no timewasting) it was just a bit of bad luck. I got timed out of a tourney once as the black was rolling towards the pocket..was about half a centimetre short when I got timed out

Where you have a limited time and when you have done your shot you slam the bell and that stops your clock and starts your opponent.

David is a slow player and defensive also has lag that doesnt help he doesnt play for it though.

rather than anything fancy like that couldn't the total time taken for each player be computed by the game? The game already knows when you've finished taking your shot, save hitting even more buttons.

Another good thing about a chess clock is that it would in greater degree allow a defensive playstyle in tournaments - since you have full control on the time limit imposed on yourself, without relying on how fast or slow your opponent is. If you want to flirt with the round timeout, you do it on known data and on your own risk - completely fair and predictable for all parties involved.

lol, ive played him in a uk tourny before, and also watched him, and when he knows he cant win i.e. is against a better player, he taps the balls around with no real purpose, there is no safety aspect to his shots because its not like he has it covered, hell wait until the last second to shoot.

id say 80 percent on the uk tournys he enters are dq for him, so yeah jans idea of a chess clock is an interesting point.
