whats with that? ive come across quite a few of these clowns. i say gg even if i stuff up stupidly and hand the game to someone else on a platter, and alot of others here are the same, its general politeness. if you dont want to talk to the opponent then dont say anything at all. but some people just say gg only when they win, and no other time. anyway... sados

As above, but as people are all diffrent its just the way it is you cant make people say gg even if it is polite, its nice to be polite to each other and show a bit of sportsmanship

yeah i can understand that, kindof defeats the purpose of saying gg if people only say it when theyre pleased with the outcome of the game though, because ofcourse 95% of the time it will be just 1 person saying gg then.. anyway im out! byeeeeeee

I usually say gg anyways unless both players clearly play badly. I save the "wp" for when people have earned it tho.

If i have played bad and handed it to them on a plate... Eg fouled black, made a mess up and didn't hit a ball leaving them easy clear.. i won't say it.

Or if they fluke a combo on 9ball, or fluke a few shots on either 8ball i won't say it either :)

Its only a game who cares if they fluke or not? I say it after everything even if they give me abuse i still say it, after all its only a game and it takes 2 seconds to type it!

I agree with ste, you are not made to type it so you do so when you please, it is not good or bad sportsmanship in my eyes as sometimes you are off doing other things and may forget i find it better to say when they are abusing you it feels sweeter that way!

the answer is simple - dont let it get to you.

I used to....but them I just got over it. its two letters. If two letters are going to spoil your whole tournament, then that is unlucky.

then its a problem....but when they say gg when they think you will sink the shot, then surely you can sink the shot!

gg means "good game". I.e., it has a meaning, it's not just some quantom of politeness. And it happens that two players play and one plays so terrible and loses that to see their opponent go "gg" is just all wrong. In other words, politeness is one thing, but no-one's gonna want to say gg if they played much and the game wasn't a good game, unless they're acknowledging the other player's good play.

Of course, when two players both play atrociously, it looks downright stupid to see either of them say "gg" despite the obvious, unless of course either of them doesn't realise the poor standard that was played to.

In other words, let's not kid ourselves with gg when it's unwarranted, eh?

Can't resisit chipping in that "gg" isn't some excusive global comment on a game.

It can be perfectly acceptable and sensible to say "gg" halfway through a game, and refrain to comment by the end because it went downhill...
