What you think of Countdown on C4?
What you think of Carol Vorderman was FORCED OUT by TV bosses.

And Itv makes it for C4.

Absolutely ridiculous!

Carol is absolutely amazing at the numbers board on that show, and I havent seen one that she can't do yet!

They will have trouble replacing her... I think everyone else should leave in protest!

Outrageous ultimatum, for someone that has been on the show for that amount of time then offered such disgusting terms, is heartless.

An ITV insider insisted last night: "Carol wasn't forced out. Yes, she was asked to take a substantial pay cut but would still have been paid £2,000 a day for sticking up some numbers. Not bad work if you can get it.

"We make the show for Channel 4 and they cut the budget. We had to make savings and the main costs were the two presenters. So that's what we did. Carol could have taken the cut and stayed, but she chose not to. We don't feel she was forced out."

Poor lady, having to make the choice between £1.5 million and £150.000 a year!!

How will she ever survive?

Ah, was just about to have a crack at it

I stand corrected.

She wasn't the most overpaid mathematician in the United Kingdom, so well worth the 1.5 million. As a bonus she can flip a good card.

Seriously though, the programme she professes to love so much is asking her to make a small sacrifice to help the shows future, but instead she wants people like us to believe she was pushed out. This is without mentioning 'all' the other pies she has her fingers firmly dug into.

How will she ever pay the 4 mortgages now?

According to the BBC, Carol earns £900,000 a year.

She was offered a 90% pay cut...

Come on guys! You don't have to be Carol to figure this one out!

She is left earning £90,000 a year.

My Dad earns {almost} as much as that, and he has no-where near as much brains as Carol. Good for her in leaving! Her skills will be valued a lot more elsewhere...

True, she may struggle a bit, but it's not like she doesn't know a few good "get out of debt" companies should the going get really tough.

Bring on a new team, get the show kick-started again. Just as long as its not Ant and Dec!

(100+8) X (20/5) - 1 = 431 I beleive

anyway she is a multi millionaire and spinner is right 90% cut is still tremondous amounts of money to be honest i think she should do it for free.

Have you heard her false laugh omg that annoys me oh and sam there are some she can not do that i accept are probably impossible.

Poor lady indeed. Shame we ain't all got them choices........

If she wants to feel that sorry for herself maybe she should move to Africa for a few years......... I hate how this silly person is clogging up my internet time!

I'm sure there's hotter women who can do a little math. It's not actually that hard when you've been doing it for long enough!

I vote for Kirsten Sanford from the week in science.

http://www.kirstensanford.com/

Read her stuff on the tin can engine, brilliant!

Or maybe Kari Byron from mythbusters..

I also think they should fight for Stephen Fry as the new presenter. I'd start watching it again for sure if they did that..

Because for the past two weeks I've been working with someone who's doing a Masters in Physics. He's 21 and can do Maths just as quick as our Carol. All I'm saying is, she's not the only one who can do it. There's plenty more who can replace her.

EDIT: Stephen Fry is the man. And insanely brainy!

i think, and i quote..... Channel 4 said 'we can survive without Richard Whitely, then we can survive without you' was a bit harsh and tipped her over the edge, hence making here leave, i do believe she was happy to take a pay cut or even do it for free as its a job she loved doing for 26 years and she just doesnt flip cards and work out sums.
It sounds downright nasty to me, as Countdown was the first ever show On C4.

Then again i aint watched Countdown for ages, ever since that gaery pink background

A quote quoted from her manager......... I heard she was furious with being asked to take a pay cut! You'll never know the real truth. I'm sure she'll survive.
