Ignore pms are just so annoying. Someone pm's you, you reply and get told you can't.
I know lots of people are going to have a go at me for saying this, but I say get rid of this feature, or even better, to show in the player's chat with a link to the chat window showing that they have received a pm.
The people that have this feature turned on are rude and arrogant and don't have good manners at all.

Rather than get rid of it, i think a modification so that PM's are disabled, rather than ignored, would prevent the problem you mention.
After all, there is no point in being able to send if you can't recieve!
People do turn ignore on for valid reasons, in tourney finals etc you dont wanna be on the black for the win when your buddy pops up with a "Hey, hows things" PM..
Having PM's be similar to, or intergrated with, the invite system has been mentioned a couple of times and i personally think its a good idea.
Instead of an invite to a game, you get an invite to a PM chat. If you decline, then the person knows you are busy.

That's a good idea spinner, then it wouldn't pop up in mid shot.

Yep would been great
It's perfectly ok for my part if people want to ignore PMs entirely, but something in between would certainly been handy (have the PM window appear minimized for one thing)

yes, that would be great.
Either that or as I said in my first post, a link to the pm conversation, although I guess this is pretty much the same thing.
PM while competing is fine, and that would cut in in a tourny anyway?
The people that annoy me are the people that have Ignore PMs completely turned on, so even if they are in the chat room you can't message them.

Well.... that is frankly their perogative.
I do agree it's lame if they are able to message you tho, without you being able to respond or start convos the other way around.
If you ignore PMs, you should - imo - not be able to send either.

the whole point of having ignore pm's is to choose if you want to talk to random people or not , most people who have their pm's set to ignore don't pm random people anyway , we have a friends list so we can be more particular in who we talk to privately , nothing annoying about making the choice to ignore someone who you don't even know , doesn't make us ignorant or arrogant just choosey

in real life if you don't like someone then you don't have to speak to them so why should it be different on here ?

Because this is the internet and not real life? If you don't get on with everyone then there's always the 'Ignore' function.
Ignore pms when competing is fine, but in my opinion, ignore pm's totally is stupid and encourages people not to get on.

don't be daft lmao , it just means we don't want to be inundated with pms from random people lol , its easier just to have pms on ignore rather than certain individuals you don't get on with

Can i add a simple solution to this thread! surely if you dont like someone then put them on ignore, if im not wrong then this stops them from sending you a PM? Problem solved?
You cant get rid of the PM;S as this is a good way for friends to talk!

who said get rid of the pm's? lol
he wants the feature of 'ignore all pm requests' to be gotten rid of

I think this is going off track
Nobody proposed getting rid of PM's - just the ability for those who ignore all PM's to PM other users.
There is no reason to do this other than to be awkward since the user can't reply.

Getting back on track, what if people dont have the rights to PM unless they have played enough games like the fourm posts. eg. 100 games +
Then this will show if they are on here for games and not just ASL

I only brought this up as I feel the function is ridiculous.
a) People can message you, but you can't reply
b) When trying to host events you cannot contact anyone.
There is also the ignore pm's while competing, so saying things like "Stops pm's in a tourny final" is not relevant.
Hope this helps.

Harsh and very judgemental on that one there!!
Im neither of the above mentioned..honestly :)
in my opinion, ignore pm's totally is stupid and encourages people not to get on.
Again, i disagree (Sorry!)

I logged in the other day on a diff name, ive not et got it on ignore pm's and i swear in a matter of seconds of entering chat room i had about 8 pm's!
I never used to have them on ignore, id be polite and answer them and then add, sorry i hate pm with a smily..that only promted them to ask me why!
IMO The feature shud stay.

The message feature is available if you want to arrange tournaments etc and you can send 100 messages a day. PM's between friends using up to a 50 person friend's list is ideal as it stops all the random ASL's and unwanted attention from people you don't know. You can get to know the people you like and are likely to get on with in games or in the chat room and can add them/ ask to be added to their list as and when appropriate. Neither rude nor arrogant just selective and unharrassed!
