US Break - 4 balls to hit the cushion

Official US rules state 4 balls must hit the cushion or be potted after break. The code can easily be added. Opinions?

No- the breaks are great as they are on the regular games. If you go for a GB sometimes the pack doesnt break up that well so you might find your struggling for 4 balls to hit the cushion. I think it works fine as it is.
IMO, the old games are perfect as they are and shouldnt be altered, bar a Pro UK game as discussed before.

Well i'll stick true to form and say i think it would be better to stay in line with the rules.
It's one thing departing from them for reasons brought about because this is an online game, but for something so simple as having an extra ball hit the cushion i can see no reason not to mirror them.
After all, its there to encourage a strong break, which s good for everyone.

weve played with that rule for so long but if it is the rule we might aswell play by it.
edit:the new 4 ball cushion rule...just incase anyone was confuesed

am i reading this wrong, if 4 balls dont hit the cushion how many balls do you need to pot from the break

I have to agree with this change 100%
I have played both games and believe these changes are great for the game, i have played many games Where someone breaks and knocks one or two balls out, i smash them up and thats the end! In a real game the real player will break up and go for game on the first break!

Easily solved by accepting the break if any ball is actually potted. Just like we currently do for killer.
I think it's a good idea - while I love tap breaks myself and have no problem with people trying to use it against me - 8 ball should be forced to be as offensive a game as possible. Forcing a powerful break is a good step in that direction.

5.4 LEGAL BREAK SHOT
The rules governing the break shot are the same as for other shots except:
1. The breaker must strike the1-ball first and either pocket a ball or drive at least four numbered balls to the rail.

i think this site should be as realistic has possible, so if the rules are diff in real life then why not change them, i like it, good idea
