There are also certain music streaming sites that are only accessible in certain countries. You can actually change IP adresses quite easily just to access the content. I rip them from these sites and also rip from youtube. It's really easy that way mate. I really prefer it and it is safer to do so.

Is it the videos you are looking to rip or an mp3 of the video.

Also I would recommend the IP thing as there are some good European, Asian and American websites with lots of classic and brand new tunes. But probably more fiddly and complicated.

The youtube way is good. Will pm you later about it.

You can download the youtube vid and the demux the audio, however that takes a lot longer than simply recording the audio as the video plays with a simple recorder like Mymp3.

edit: i want the video and audio and i want it in a format that allows it to be played on dvd discs on a kenwood ddx5022. it plays most like avi etc.

Does anyone know a way of converting an mp4 file to a avi or whatever is the most common to play on a car dvd head unit

Ok, a few options.

I use Anydvd for a lot of things, you have to pay for it but it is VERY good. Lets you add youtube URL's, press go, and leave it to download them and convert them to any format you could ask for.


However, lets stay free

Youtubecatcher will let you download the .flv (flash video) file from youtube.

There are many conversion options, but i reccomend SUPER.

It is incredibly fast and powerful and will convert both .mp4's and your youtube .flv's to XviD .avi's so you can play them on your DVD player no hassle.

It's a "different" style of program, but simple when you get used to it.

And yes, if the downloaded files don't have a .flv extension, you're best to give them one so super knows what they are.
