I am sure that's a mods job not yours, so leave it to them.
As you are thinking of a possibility of getting a virus from downloading a torrent, I assume you are looking to download something for free that isn't meant to be free and probably infringe copyrights, which is illegal.
Here is a site that is trusted, there is some free content but most you might have to pay for:

utorrent is certainly an excellent client, and the one i use the most.
However, so long as you are careful where you download them (avoiding sites like download.com etc) all torrent clients should be fine, but you need to be vary aware of what they do and the risks associated, especially if you don't use them legally.

also have you noticed your posts are always sensible and a pleasure to read.
and world champ, i download some torrents myself and even use disney.org sometimes hehe, not a very convincing url but the main thing for a safe download is to look for anything that looks wrong, like if the size of the file is odd or something like that, also another good idea is to look at comments by other people, might find out something about the quality of the file you are downloading or anything else useful.

Just a little message so you dont get caught, downloading some torrents is illegal!

If your not downloading copyrighted software, music and films etc. Then you'll be fine
Otherwise, just don't get caught lol

Yes, it's all illegal! After I downloaded There's No Place Like Home (parts 2 and 3) of cult TV series Lost (complete with Italian subtitles!), I deleted it immediately! (because my heap of junk computer didn't have enough room)
I find the web browser Opera ideal. You can download torrents with it and it does everything for you.

Just all be careful what you're downloading and where from.

Not all of it is illegal. Alot of people use it to download freeware, at faster speeds.
It's not just the legal issues though, alot of viruses are spread through torrents.

Not at all. There are a great many old films and TV series now public domain, and a good selection of other things use torrents for distribution too.
(dont miss http://www.returnoftheghostbusters.com/ )
