the player i played agains in a tournament wasted time on every shot , resulting in a final verdict that disqualified us both from the tournament . this is very frustrating and unfair to someone like me who plays fair . i tried to make a complaint but there are no explicit reasons for this type of complaint ... so - i post it here ... thanks .

I would think the person might have had slow connection! Happens a lot
Its hard luck when it happens but i think lots have had it happen to them alos (seen a lot of talk on this before) its the hard line between slow play and connection!
Thats why there is time, its meant to help finish the game

i wouldnt mind if he did... but most of the time wasting was letting the computer take over and wasting time .... ending up with me being booted out of a tourney for something beyond my control. but the main point is ... when trying to complain about someone who acts like this there is no way to complain... we dont wantidiots on here and its just frustrating to waste an hour of yur life with idiots like that . this site ( and you ) deserves better behaviour from people like that .

I'm sure that if you feel he was doing it on purpose and it was not down to such things like connection problems, you could contact a moderator that is on the game at the time and they would ensure that the game is being played fairly. If they deem the guy to be wasting time on purpose to get you disqualified I'm sure they would deal with it accordingly

It happens and it sucks.
A chess clock system has been proposed many times, that would address this kind of thing, but until then there's not much to do about it.
Never assume it's intentional tho - spending the full shot time is something any player is technically entitled to in either case.
The solution is a better clock system that given a timeout ultimately only DQs the slower player, but until then just try to cheer up :D Furtunately it happens very very rarely (had it happened to me once in my time on this site)

Yeah, I understand your frustration as someone arrived very late in a speed tourny and we got disqualified and he had the cheek to tell me to hurry up on my shots...
Nothing we can do about it I'm afraid

^^^ theres your answer There is little more we can do other than the suggestion made by jan.
Saying that however... i did think that if you had a slow connection.. for the person who is faster, the timer would stay on 0 for a while... am i wrong in thinking this is the case?

You can take things in your hands and go for a runout :P that way you don't have to wait for the opponent.... but it's not simple to do lol

That wouldn't really be necessary. A slow connection doesn't normally have bad ping (response) times, and the differences between the different parts of the world are very minor as well - compared to the overall time you spend making a shot.
Typical response times for normal, working connections are (in milli seconds):
US: 50 or less
UK: around or just above 100
Australia: 4-500 ms, sometimes up towards 1000
Everyone can experience latency spikes (taking several seconds) but that's rare, and an indication of a broken connection (with errors) rather than just a slow one.
Also please note that the bandwidth of your connection has literally no relevancy to this. The amount of traffic used by this game is negligible.
(For those who are interested in seeing their response time to the funkypool server, you can use a network utility called "ping". In windows: Start -> Run... -> write "cmd" + Ok. In the command window that appears, type "ping funkypool.com" and hit enter. This sends a few data packets to the server and tells you how long they took to get there. To get the entire route from your home to the server, you can use "tracert funkypool.com" instead)

He does not seem to be pointing out that it was anything to do with his opponents connection or any clock problems, but that his opponent intentionally tried to get him DQ'd from something that he had entered a while back. (An hour I think). I've been involved in the match not finishing in time but down to slow, tactical play (I like to think) And it gets frustrating. Now if someone gets me DQ'd on purpose it would make me feel "what's the point in playing" I understand why you can't complain for many reasons as It probably would get out of hand with minor incidents and I think it is set up good with the different 'strength level' if you like. Some may see this as a minor incident as it is not abusive or racist. But it is stopping someone from enjoying funkypool!
After all it's making and enjoyable game a very annoying game and possibly going to result in people leaving and not coming back, especially if they have only signed up recently
