I've always wondered, why can't we do this?
Is it disabled for a reason or?

to show somebody what somebody said
edit: personally i cant click links in game window so it would be useful for copying links as well rather than either typing it or getting an offline message.
Not essential but........

I can't really see the point to be honest. Very occasionally you might want to do as madmike said and quote somebody.
But, by the same score, I have no idea why it's not possible (that's okay mate - if you don't ask you'll never know).
It doesn't really assist spamming, thinking about it, because you can copy and paste your own words - just not those of others.
We'll have to ask that owner bloke.

I changed my views completely in the time it took you to quote me.

I just sat here for nearly 10 minutes trying to understand why you said that......Now I get it
I had one of those moments where your mind goes blank and you read the thread about 25 times over and still don't understand. Anyone else get them...... No?.........Didn't think so.
Anyway, I agree with flapjack. I think it would just be a nice simple addition that is there if you need it.

The thing that made me think was when i first started to chat with someone, it was a fairly long bit of writing, and it would have annoyed me if it has said 'this person ignores pm's while competing' and i'd have to find him/her, and type it all out again. But yeah for mikes reasons too.
Exactly, you can just type what someones said anyway and copy it before pressing enter, and then keep sending it. And there is that 'no spamming please' that stops you slightly too, so it's not exactly going to change much towards spamming if it was enabled.
I'll just sit back and wait for someone to tell me why it is disabled

^^ Thats why it's disabled
Well, part of why anyways..
You can copy/paste the chat before you send it (that keeps the spammers happy), but by keeping posted chat non-copyable it prevents people from copying things, editing them, then saying "thats what they said"

have you ever had it so you could copy and paste it? if not, why dont we trial it for two weeks and see if anybody does play up (or if anyone sends in complaints)
