I agree with war criminal. Snookering is too easy as it is and makes for a boring game often. Make it harder and the game livens up.

Snookering using a cushion isn't as hard as it sounds.

What I am trying to say, is that if you make the game easier for the "lowbies", you make the game easier for the pro's too.

Unfortunately, that is the way it works, and the very best will find snookering on the cushion just as easy as the "tap" snooker.

I doubt the person who created this thread is a very good UK8 player, and doesnt like the fact.

But making the game easier for one, is making the game easier for all, including the good people.

The good people may only see this as a slight hinderance, and will adjust easily.

many local rules can often get mixed up in the proper rules i think they should change rules about touching the rail but gotta be careful that you dont make it too similar to 8 us

Im getting tired of being snookered unsportingly, I only do it when i have to and know thats how most of the decent players play. I know its part of the game. but the rules should be updated to the new uk rules. which are when you touch a ball the white should hit a cushion unless you pot. so theres no more sneaking behind balls ! ... wat yall reckon :D

Agreed.

You'd still have the (very legit and fair) option of playing a snooker on your opponent, but at least it takes a bit of skill to do - like is already the case in US 8 ball.

If you get snookered unfairly.
Do it back.

(is there such a thing as an unfair snooker?)

Nope.

Snookering is no different to potting a ball. I've lost countless games to people who have unfairly potted all their balls before i have mine..

Try playing 8 ball...

i agree v v gd idea when ur snookered behind ball its v v hard to hit ur own ball

If the point of snookering was to make it easy for your opponent to pot a ball i doubt how often it would be used as a tactic.

Definitely not. It's more a discussion about what people want the game to be - not what is fair and not.

I dissagree the rules should stay the same they are fine the way they are...... I'm not great at getting out of snookers but I can hold my own, And if you do get snookered then you should have snookered the other place first its your own fault

Emmm, what's an unsporting snooker? A deliberate snooker? A tactical snooker? A snooker behind the black when you're on the black? A fluke snooker?

The idea of snookering is - duh - to prevent your opponent from having a clean shot on his/her object balls. And if you're lucky, he/she will foul. And it's a pretty good guess that in the formative history of pool, if an accidental snooker was acceptable in pool, then so was a deliberate one. And so it remains.

Snookering is possible in US 8 ball and 9 ball as well, you know. In fact, snookering an opponent can give an opponent a winning advantage if his opponent misses 3 times in a row. My take on it, with "Leave it as it is" being the bottom line, is that we all know it as part of the Funkypool game for long and long now, there's nothing dishonourable about snookering and it's something that can be done by both players (offensively/defensively, ...
