Most of you probably know by now, down 196 seats and a lower percentage than the Lib dems and not all votes declared yet. Got a feeling Brown could be about to get the shunt from Labour.
Conservatives take 44% and gain, according the themselves nearly 200 seats! with Boris favorite to take the London crown from Ken Livingston. Madness!

I think many have lost faith in labour, but personally, I feel voting in the tories would be devastating for the country. More soldiers would be sent to Iraq, taxes would rise, and we would probably end up being in debt by million because we will be loaning a shed load of money from the USA. I'm all for voting lib dems, but there is that one worry where you feel they're too small a party, and in my case (not wanting the conservatives in charge) it might be a waste of a vote. People seem to be moaning about the cost of taxes, and food, and petrol etc.... David Cameron said that he will not be Lowering any of those costs!!!!!! So you're basically voting in the conservatives for change, it's gonna change, but for the worst and people should realize that if thyme listen to what the parties say not what is actually happening in the world economics voting conservative is insane!

I was thinking on the same lines as that, but you put it across better.
I was almost convinced by the BNP, not for racial issues for british nationals , but to cut crime and stop a furhter influx of immigrants, but i decided the larger wrong issues out weigh the smaller good issues.
I thought they were using local issues such as crime, immigration etc to gloss over the fact that its a racist party that will try and oust our own British muslims, afro-carribiens etc...and thats fundementally wrong

110% agree!
Everything is up in arms at the moment, it feels like you are not changing anything except the faces. But like many people who follow and listen, I just know, voting conservatives, unless you're very well of in the back pocket, is going to be one of the biggest mistakes you will make.

Hehe
I'm pretty sure in thinking the turn out was low, so hopefully it's a kick up the backside for people to realize what awaits them if they don't vote

I'm very happy with Labour. Blair/Brown have financailly helped me and my familoy by bringing in tax credits ect. I know they go wrong at times, they have with us, but ultimately it was something for the good.
I can't vote Tory, my dad use to be a miner! I'd never vote for them because I don't really like David Cameron, I think he's got an over-sized ego and is a little numpty who thinks he's 'down' with the general population of Brits, when in actual fact he knows jack didly bob about our culture, our real way of life in built up council estates.
Gordon Brown knows what he's doing, he's just getting the bad press. You think we would be in a different situation if we had Numpty David I like to ride my bike and hug hoodies Cameron in charge? Think again!

I totally agree with you on the 1st paragraph you wrote John, as far as the miner situation goes, i agree too as i was relating to the thatcher years on how bad it was, so i doubt i will ever trust Tory again, plus ultimately they are for the middle class and upwards,Although i was slightly wavered, but ultimately for the past 22 years i have only voted with my heart the once and that was voting in Blair, I agree Brown is getting it in the neck, why? well we all know why, is it his fault ultimately?? or is it global too? I dont quite understand the why's and where-fores of it all.
Thats probably why i didnt vote, as i was very unsure what to do.But hand on heart, i do believe Labour, if they get in again, will steer us through what is uncertain times. So in hindsight, maybe i should have voted.
Only time will tell.

Go for it Tids, vote me ol' mucker Brown in! I have total confidence in him and when am I ever wrong!??
Honestly though, I do think Labour would best steer us through this time of financial uncertainty.
(But I'm no expert on politics, nor wish to be)

Well we had years of misery with the Tories, this is but a glinch in comparisson to the Thatcher years....Goes to show how quick people are to jump on the negative rather than the posotive.
I missed my vote now in the locals, lets see what happens nearer the Generals

Well usually there will be stories over the news, teletext and in newspapers about what all parties intent to do if voted into power, which obviously has a massive influence on who to vote for. Many people also look back at the history, as you can see in this thread and look at each parties leader and his/her history and personality. Manifesto's also get sent to your house by the parties, which is basically a book telling you everything! with each party trying to sell themselves to you.
So there is many different factors that contribute to your decision on who to vote for

I have never voted. Why? Because they are all a bunch of liars. Everyone of them. They make all kinds of promises by saying vote for me and this will happen etc etc etc - never does. I hate politicians with a passion. Overpaid fools the lot of em.

So true! But one of those politicians is going to run your country, don't you want the best one? I mean imagine that you had a guy saying, "I'm going to cut taxes by half, and the economy is not going to suffer one bit". Then you had another guy say exactly the same thing but is very arrogant and racist. So to sum it up, two politicians that are head to head to run the country, one is racist, but they have both put forward exactly the same policies, would you still not vote?
The point is look into it and do NOT waste a vote!
And if the above is not a good enough example why you should be aware who to vote for , think of all those who fought for the right to vote.
