Okay so april 22nd is earth day and im trying to be more eco friendly and i think everyone should too. Im not asking you guys to totally devote yourself to it, but a little helps. Its not just like whatever, why should i do this i have things to do and i dont wanna waste my time. First of all your playing online pool so having things to do just went out the window. And isnt it worth it to risk a little of your time to make the place you live in better?
-Recycle! Start using things that are reusable. It saves energy and reduces pollution. But sometimes things dont always get recycled. Try to not use so many products that have packaging. Plastic is probably the thing that usually doesnt get recycled as much because it costs so much to recycle it, and its very harmful to the enviroment.
-Plant a tree. Trees give out oxygen so it'll give you healthier air to breathe. It helps global warming which is a really good thing.

-Save energy and water. If its sunny outside you really dont need to have the lights on. Plus it saves money, thats always good. Changing your lightbulb saves tons of energy, so if you havent changed it might be a good idea to do that. Try to limit the time you spend in the shower. Water isnt going to last forever so we need to use it wisely.
-Dont smoke! Its totally icky and makes you smell bad. It also pollutes the air and makes you unhealthy. It kills your lungs and thats just not good.
-Try to eat less meat. Organic foods really arent that bad and they're good for you!. Give them a try and lay off the meat. Feedlots are just disgusting and cause organic pollution, and beautiful rainforests are cut down so that we can have more cows roaming around...ugh.
-Save gas. So basically you sholould try not to drive as much, dont drive fast, and drive safe. I think this is the hardest one to follow cause im a total speed racer, but i'll try to do my best and so everyone should too!

I am proud to be very green, All my light bulbs at home are energy efficient, I cycle to work as much as possible, so my fuel consumption is now halved, My waste is now at least 75% recycled,(paper, glass, aluminium cans and plastic) i use the washing machine at 30c, the heating is on at a lower level than needed,(i wear warmer clothing in the house) My Garden waste is recycled via the council collection or i compost it, any dangerous waste i take to the tip for proper disposal and i always turn off my electrical appliances, I NEVER leave them on standby.
I also collect rainwater for watering my large garden.
I recycled my old mobile and got £3 credit and £3 to the red cross for my effort.
Also try using
http://www.freecycle.org/
dont throw it away, see if someone else can use it.
And you dont have to be a freaking hippie too look after the planet we all share, just sensible.

I like to think i'm energy efficient.
Everything is switched off when not being used, nothing on standby.
when it's cold, put on a jacket, not the heating.
if it's hot, open a window (my window is open pretty much 24 hours a day anyway, i like the cold, except in winter)
I HATE people that leave things on when they aren't being used, it's a pet hate.

I'm not a really green person to be frank with you. Doesn't really worry me but that's because of my personality which is laid-back and worries as little as possible and up for a laugh, so yano
I do, however, turn lights off behind me and turn things off by the socket and not leave things on standby that much. I might give it a bash and go green!

Same with me.
I hope everyone takes note of this thread because the ones that think it's silly will be the ones that will be moaning when it's too late. Great thread
the_hunter, I'm laid back person as well but I wont be laid back if I'm told the planet will only survive for a set amount of years while I'm alive
Also what Katie_bug pointed out about what your leaving behind for your kids is rather important, imo

I try to be green when I can, though I'm probably not as good as I should be.
Guess me and Josh'll be the first victims of Mari's EcoBot®, oh the irony!

I don't think so. Happy Earth Day everyone! Remember that from 8 pm to 8:15 pm you are supposed to turn out all your lights to hold vigil for our planet!
Or maybe that's just in the US. In any case, it's a good idea to participate anyway!

Definantly the US and China need to take heed, although we are all responsible, the UK was, in the industrial revolution like a mini China is now, so if anyone from our island says we are small pollutants, then they need to think back.
Its a global effort that we, as one big family need to look after our home.
Ok whos got the bong

From home too work for me is 12 miles each way.
I try, weather permitting at the moment, to cycle in on Monday Wednesday and Fridays, however as soon as i get some decent wet weather clothing for cycling i will use pedal power 3 times a week rain or shine.
I would do it everyday but i think 72 miles a week is enough

I applaud you mari, very good idea indeed.
I've been doing my part and taking the energy efficient light bulbs out of the work loo's. Only 3 more and the house is fully converted.
*Thumbs up*
