just wondering what people think on this idea.
ok, so when you sign up, how about having an option button to determine whether you get newbie status or not. it can be completely up to the person creating the account if they choose this or not.
i say this because i am relatively new to the site, i have come from snooker however so i know how to play. i therefore would much rather not have my newbie status so i dont get dimissed in so many game rooms. i find it increasingly difficult to play against a similarly ranked us 8 ball player because of this 'newbie status' as most will either tell me to get out, leave and create a new room with the same name but with NO NEWBIES added on the end, or i will receive the occassional abuse for being a 'fake newbie'.
also could be implemented so that if you reset your account you don't get newbie status thus helping to eliminate this 'fake newbie' malarkey ?
just an idea. thoughts?

Good idea, although you might find it even harder to get games (especially vs high rank) without the newbie status (since people risk more)
Being in your particular situation plain sucks, the only solution is to try to play your rank up where it belongs, any way you can.
As for the reset stats issue - just remove the reset all together... problem solved.

great idear, However we have the 100 games thing, were when you play 100 games you are not presented as a newbie know more, so realy this idear is pointless

To be honest there is a bad reason if we did not have the newbie status, in a tournament we will enter the room and it will say newbie will it so we dont know what rank they are in 500-600 700-900.(newbie,adept,professinal,virtuso.)
but to be honest the reset idea is very good it would stop people getting abused when the just reset ! they may of came from a 900 reset !

Dont forget one of the biggest reasons for the newbie status, the rank adjustment.
This takes care of things in both directions. Genuine new players get a decent rise in rank as the learn, and other users are protected from losing a lot of rank to "fake newbies" as well.
Not to mention it goes a long way to keeping our forums nice and spam free.

i like the idea to a degree.
but with what spinner has said, what if we had it that forum could not be open until a member moved out of newbie status. So even if he turns newbie off, you still cant post on forums until he has played the minimum amount of games (100 games isnt it??)
and another thing would have to be is that once your not a newbie, you couldnt change back. i think that reason is obvious.
