Any chance of being able to put a drop down on the block where you creat a game which enables you to choose your lowest ranking opposition. Example block says 750, 760, 770, 780 ect and I click 770. That now stops people lower than that ranking joining your table. If you are playing someone and their ranking goes below that score it wouldn't matter as they are already at the table. I'm only asking as I keep creating a table saying 820 plus only and I get 600-700 ranked Newbies joining me. When I politely say they are ranked to low I get verbal abuse typed up on the screen at me. This is a family site and my son uses it. He constantly gets abuse because he is virtuoso in one of the games and doesn't want to lose loads of points to players that half the time hit and hope.I have nothing against Newbies (we were all there once) but they need to get enough ranked points playing people of their own ability. Any Thoughts?
Thanks
Darren

I had a similar idea to this,

It had quite a good reception, both on here and on snooker.

Sounds like a good idea, although when someone you don't wish to play joins your game, the simple solution is to create a new game. Although i admit it can be annoying sometimes. However if everyone were to use the system you suggest, there would be some people, for example in the 590's and lower 600's, who would find it near impossible to get a ranking game, don't you think?

Different variations of this has been proposed tons of times, and hopefully Nick will get around to it some day.
Anyone opposed to such a mechanism needs to realize that people already have the choice of deciding who they play or not. The only real difference here is that people would have a more clear way of avoiding having to jump in and out of game rooms all the time.

the simple thing is that if you are that good it doesnt matter who you play even if you lose a couple you can get the points back or play friendlys, and when you play a newbie and you lose you will lose less points than if you were playing someone with a higher rank. that being said i totally agree that there is an issue with abusive players, this is supposed to be a family site, my children also use it but i will only let them have a private room because of these plonkers who seem hell bent on ruining it for everyone else.

For my part, any rank, scores, tables or percentages are all secondary to having fun. Then again my perception of fun is closely related to the level of the game (both my own play as well as the opponent), so it's mostly two sides of the same coin.
As for high ranked players being hesitant to play lowbies, that's quite understandable. Playing low ranked players is quite simply risky compared to playing high ranked ones. When playing lowbies, the best case scenario is that they are as bad as the rank indicates and you earn a few small points. The worst case is that they are very much on their way up the ladder and massively better than their rank. As for high rank opponents, the best case is that they are on the way down, the worst case they are as good as you expect.
