Fill up your overdrives before the battle. Start off using Hastega (if you don't have it, learn it!) 'cos this'll give you more time to heal. Then cast Slow on Evrae. Then attack until he breathes in and then pull back to dodge poison breath. Then go close again and repeat the above until he casts Haste on himself. Now use your overdrives, which will hopefully take him down. Make sure you keep dodging poison breath, though. Hope this helps

Not necessarily, but if you have Hastega (with Tidus), you should be pretty close to getting the 3rd level elemental spells with Lulu (if you've been raising your characters evenly). It could be you just need to do more training.

The thing i find to be useful is making sure that you always have them separated. And have everyone zombieproof. Get your Aeons to overdrive, but make sure you use it right away or it will banish em

When you fight Evrae, you dont have Yuna so you can't use the Aeons.

Don't forget to keep Rikku out. Her Al Bhed potions give you health AND cure status ailments, which is good for Evrae's Poison Attack. And also, Cid will launch missiles at the monster if you pull back from it. He'll do it up to three times.

I'd suggest keeping Rikku, Auron, and one other physically attack-based person out. If you're truly having trouble, try leveling up first, and then try again.
