I'm sorry it's a little late, but here is my Valentine's for everyone!


It's my only chance to speak my mind;
For me to look in my heart, and find
The strength to say that I've fallen prey
To that spell that's only been hear-say
Thus far to myself, at least, though now
It's clear as day, and I will allow
My soul to sing like it tends to do
When you find out that he loves you, too.

They said love's just a four-letter word.
"Nothing to write home on," they assured.
But I see now: The truth wasn't said;
They fear love because their hearts have bled;
Gave out pieces they couldn't afford
And had them dissolve, or worse, ignored.
You fear love because it robs you blind;
It hits you when your back's turned, you'll find.
Ensnares your senses, love, like magic
Which is why people must think it's tragic.

But me? Well, I think I like the thrill,
When your heart beats so hard, then goes still;
When your head's fuzzy, your soul aflame;
When you think of nothing but his name;
When it's all you can do to think straight;
When you know that you were joined by fate.
It's things like this that give me great joy.
It's you that pulls at my heartstrings, boy.

This poem was composed just for you,
But someone told me to share it, too.
So, once again, I'm put on the spot;
Hope it's not too personal for this lot.
But you know, it IS a special day;
Those three words are being heard today.
So I thought: Why not? I'll speak my mind.
And so is everyone else, I find.
So warm wishes to all on this day,
And may you find the courage to say
Everything that your heart wants to speak
So that you can gain all that you seek.
