hey..my brother accpeted a virus earlier on msn, something on the lines of " is this you in this pic" and it was a zipped file.

i found it in recieved files deleted it..thought that was it but now its sending to all my contacts, i then ran a scan via AVG and found a trojan and healed it up.

Is that the last i will hear of this now, coz im now scared to go on msn becoz it will send to my mates

Yep! Its a classic msn virus.

What you have to do is uninstall msn messenger from add/remove programs in control panel, then update your antivirus software and run a full scan. That should sort it.

The you can visit microsoft.com for a new install of messenger.

(may take a few goes, and require a boot-up virus scan. your antivirus should guide you through that)

yeah someone tried sending me a link to click on then signed out - which i thought was dodgy.

ive been warned to not click on links and im glad i never cos it was a virus (after asking the person, they now on block lol). i dont understand why soomeone would want to do that though.

hope you get it sorted and people dont click on links

Nearly everyone on my msn has thi virus...
Im like....."its a zipped file" that sorta ggives it away that its not a picture !
And the damn size!!!

I got one earlier saying
"Everyones saying i look ugly in this picture, and its a new one, can u download the pic and tel me what u think plz"

i done what you said spinner..uninstalled the old windows messenger,installed the new 1, scanned pc, was going fine for 15 mins then all of a sudden signed me out and now wont let me sign back on it?

No actually I have just been signed out of MSN and every time I attempt to sign back in it keeps on saying:

"Signing into Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Anybody else getting this?

well im back in now. clicked the troubleshoot and repair and that seemed to have worked. hopefully wont be logged back out

Well it's probably the msn server always happends to me theres always another website it's msn web messenger thats if you can't use msn messenger the program.http://webmessenger.msn.com/
