I asked this myself on yahoo answers. website to this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsdaxNipXvKXMvjBqR.GMUHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080110160522AAGGDyi but please answer here.

ok...i have the new nano that came out in Australia in September 2007.

it has been great until now that when i plug it into my computer to charge, nothing happens at all.

the computer doesnt say that the USB is connected and the Ipod doesnt light up.

it does now but when the USB was connected last night (it wasnt working then either) but when i tried turning my ipod on, it would unless i disconnected the USB...but it does turn on now.

so...i have seen similer USB problems being asked, but mine is just dead

what can i do?? does my warranty cover faulty USB's?

This same problem actually happened with my Ipod Nano, to solve the problem I locked the Nano then plugged it into the USB.

Wouldn't it be easier to try Lewis's idea first?

Remember your iPod needs a fully powered USB 2 port to charge. If you have any other powered devices connected (USB speakers, scanners etc) try disconnecting those first.

Thats not the case I have 5 ports altogether on my pc and theres not a problem and they are working at the same time it's not cause of the USB ports. I had the same problem. To solve this Hold Down MENU and the MIDDLE button for 6 seconds it should bring up the apple logo. This will allow to refresh your settings but it won't delete any of your songs or pictures. Hold the Menu and the middle button until the logo comes up it may take a while but it actually works if not you battery may be uncharge if you can't fix the problem go on www.appple.com.au and email one of the staffs to help you out. Good Luck m8
