for every tournament I play, when the first round comes along, there are always a handful of people who go 'dam...i have a stupid bye'
and from the people that are online at the same time as me, most of us hate having byes.
so to reduce the amount of byes in both forms (DQ byes and no one to play byes), what if we could have the option to maturely withdraw from tournaments??
That way, if you know that you can't be on for the tournament for whatever reason, you can just withdraw. It would work best that if you withdraw, you can not enter again (in my opinion)
that way we can reduce the amount of byes that people get and then everyone is happier.
Of course, there would still be byes due to an odd number of people in tournaments, some people not withdrawing (for a variaty of reasons) so its not going to fix the problem, there is no solution to it but this way, we can reduce the amount of byes meaning that most of us can play!

Nice idea. This would be even more useful on snooker where maximum numbers of entrants are reached.

Yes, nice idea. Im not so sure about the idea of not being able to join that tournament again, if you "Unjoin"!
Also this may have been mention before but why do we have byes lmao. Theres always about 10-20 people in first round going through, via byes. Can't they play eachother to play for a place in the second round!

Thats a great idea but for snooker more than pool.
Cos the tournys get full on snooks at peak times and iv logged on at 3 minutes past and been unable to join a snooker tournament as its full.
Another little addition to that, that would be nice is when the tournament is full it could start straight away as opposed to waiting say 5 minutes when nobody can join it

Nice point Mike. Having it start when full would possibly avoid the tendency of people to "forget" about it.
kowalzki - the byes are necessary because to work, the tournaments need to work down to 1 winner, so you get this sequence backwards :
1-2-4-8-16-32-64-128 etc.
There are often many byes in the first round if more than 64 but less than 128 players enter, for example.

thats a good idea mike....get straight to it but the only problem with that would be if this idea is implemented, then we would still have to wait because there may be withdrawments.
but for now, I like that idea that mike has brought up.
