In a pub lets say if you pocket the 9ball on a foul the 9ball wont come out again so if you pocket it on a foul it will mean your opposition wins.
Funkypool though has the 9ball respotted so what I think is if you sunk the 9ball on a foul you lose.

I play 9 ball in tournaments in real life, and if and when someone scratches on the 9 ball, the rack is conceded out of common courtesy rather than anything else - I mean you're not gonna miss a respotted 9 with ball in hand! But people miss it on here a lot, and officially you're supposed to respot the 9 and pot it, so I don't see the problem! Same goes if you're on the 9 ball and for some reason it jumps off the table, officially the 9 ball is supposed to be respotted but it generally isn't for obvious reasons!

i think this is a good idea as some players do intentionally pot the pot the 9 ball to get out of a snooker knowing that it will be respoted

i use that tactic all the time if i need to; and professionals on TV do that as well.
I used to say myself that I would not do certain things like snookering people on purpose and potting the 9 ball; but then I relised that I was always at 675 or 680..
when I started to use the rules to all of my advantage, I got up to nearly 780 with this account.
Rules are there to be played by, and its simple; you can either use the rules to your maximum advantage or you can just sit back like i used to do and put limitations on yourself.
thats how 9 ball is...its tactical to pot the 9 sometimes to get back into the game.

i see ur point but it is possible to achieve a good score without using these tactics i got up 790 without it, but as it seems to be accepted i think it might be time to start
