I was just thinking... can the admin shorten the invite expiration on speed tourneys? Maybe from the usual 3 minutes to 2 minutes only. That would make the playing time to atleast 6 minutes. Better i think...

Yeah!
When a player joins at the last possible momement, it gives you 5 minutes to complete a game!
If it is 2 really poor players, or 2 players that both play safety, it could take a bit longer
Also, as it is a speed tourney, I think the invites should be speedy too!

Would avoid intentional delay.. especially those who conspire to disqualify a good player via slow penalty..

Yes please.
Or even better, stop regarding the invite time window as part of the allowed game time (give the actual game a constant time limit, regardless of where in the X minute invite window the second player joins)
It would mean a tad more waiting in some cases, but at least everyone would have the same time limit for their game, regardless of how slow their opponent is.

but sometimes there are other factors invovled.
on the phone, going to the loo, someone knocking on the door, letting the cat in/out, getting a glass of water...finishing of another game
All of these things can take from anywhere between 10 seconds to the whole 3 minutes. I like the 3 minute rule because it gives the player the time to finish what he has to do...you cant just say to the postman at the door 'oh...gotta play a pool tournament, I can't sign for the parcel now so come back later'
if you made it say a minute to accept the invite, it is unfair if someone has to do a simple chore that doesnt take that long.
and in the end, you will just have to play more atack. look at australia in the cricket just then. 14 minitues to go on the final day needing 3 wickets...Micheal clarke got the 3 wickets in 4 balls because he had to bowl attack right at the very death.
sorry, i dont like the idea

i understand your point of view mate...but thats only a minute less on the invite's expiration. u wont need 3 mins to sign a postal receipt or opening a door for someone.. anyway, just a suggestion.

i like this idea, i would rather see 1 minute, most times when your sitting in your torny room waiting is because your oppenant has decided to play a ranked game just before the torny starts, by having it at 1 minute its then there choice as to leave there ranked game and loose points or to join the torny game

This statement sums up the whole point of the suggestion. Now and again you get the tedious smart Alec who decides to accept his invite just before it expires and then once s/he's in the game they wait till the timer gets to 1 second to take their shot and most of the time their shot is a snooker, then when you both get dq'ed they respond in the most intelligent way of "hahahahahahaha".
