It was against scotland but that is a disputed answer as many people claim he was captain and many people claim his younger brother was.

Fair enough. Although wording could have been better in the question

To be fair wikipedia says Hubert's first name is actually George - no idea whether thats accurate though......

.... who scored the last goal England conceded in an opening World Cup Finals game before Robert Green last night?

Robert Green didn't score the goal last night. It was Clint Dempsey.

But Niclas Alexandersson scored for Sweden against us in 2002

The FIFA Goals Commitee will award it to Dempsey as the shot was on target.

Who is the only player to have scored for TWO different nations at World Cup finals

He is the only person to have appeared in a World Cup Final for two different nations. Scored for Argentina twice in 1930, but didn't score for Italy in 1934.

Good guess though

Which Premier League team beat Brentford at Wembley in a Freight Rover Trophy Final?

Wigan...

Not sur on the answer as they played another premier league side (Sunderland) in the competition I think so could be either.

But to keep the thread going...

Which team were champions of the 1st division champions then relegated the next season with a plus goal difference?

(To my knowledge the only team in England to be relegated with a plus goal difference.)

Also ...

Which team conceded 125 goals in one season yet narrowly avoided relegation? And who were the two teams that got relegated that year?

That would be Blackpool in 1930-31. They survived by one point ahead of Leeds Utd, who got relegated along with Man Utd, who lost their first 12 games of the season and finished a further 9 points adrift.

By the way, they also survived by one point (and one place) the following year but finished bottom the year after that and got relegated, conceding fewer goals each season.

And for the first one, Manchester City won the league in 1936-37 but got relegated in 1937-38 when they scored 80 goals and conceded 77. Went down with West Bromwich Albion while Manchester United and the mighty Aston Villa replaced them

And that is wrong, Sheffield United got relegated in 1980-81 from the 3rd Division when they scored 65 goals and conceded 63
