Can lag be caused purposely by a member during play? The reason I ask; Every time I play a certain member, the lag is so annoying, that it puts me off my game. (I don't play that member for that very reason.) At first, I attributed it to the site being busy, or that certain members connection.
But the last time, it seemed the lag came at very inopportune, and crucial moments in a tournament.
Is this possible? And if so, can anything be done about it?

yeah its possible i wouldnt thing anyone would do it in a pool game, but i have seen it done and have done it myself in other games, ie socom or halo.. but its just simply interupting ur connection on purpose like pulling out the cord to ur modem and putting it back in real fast or taping the reset button on ur modem or router. but im not sure there is much that can be done about it, except if a person times out in a game more then once or twice he automatically gets kicked, or something along those lines

Are you talking about network latency (similar to what you normally see when someone is playing on a crappy connection) or computer lag making the game chuggy?

I fail to see how someone can remotely cause lag in your game client without hacking your game client - which would be a pretty damn neat trick considering it is downloaded centrally.

I totally agree janmb, I personally cant see anyone being able to pull this off.

Maybe coincidence might be part of this.

this is probably one of the biggest questions on here yet. i reckon it can be done on purpose!

Any theory behind that statement?

ive done it before dark, not on this game but in online games, its not that hard i explained u simply interupt ur signal on purpose which can be done easily, but im not sure if the same relates to funkypool guess the only way to find out is to try it out

Yes but, if you interrupt your own connection that would simply stop the game for a bit till the server caught up.

What i am saying is that you cant affect the other persons game by interrupting their own connection...

Exactly, a lag on their part wouldn't affect your play. What I was referring to, is that herky jerky, freeze frame effect. Could possibly be a coincidence as I said before, but the timing on the last occurrance makes me wonder. A good trick if it's possible.

It would surely require another user to remotely control another users internet connection.

Very illegal and highly unlikely.

In that case you are talking about network latency and not actual game lag... but that's semantics...

I have seen a few players who more or less consistantly uses the entire shot timer + 10 or more seconds, and I guess that is achievable through temporary network disconnect one way or another, but frankly who cares... Even if people *are* able to cheat that way, it is my experience and belief that they hurt themselves and their own focus a lot more compared to if they were to play the game entirely normally...

Not to mention the fact that I would suspect the game of logging clients who consistantly have network latency JUST when it is their own shot ;)

In that case, I truly think you should settle for the coincidence factor and rest assured there's no one able to do that to you on purpose.

Several people have complained on different ads etc causing lag tho, as well as whatever other programs you are running (knowingly or not) in the background obviously.

He's still (if I interpret him correctly) talking about actual game lag (as in the game graphics being jerky), and not network latency which is a different issue entirely

Still not likely that anyone is able to do something like that tho, for all practical purposes I would go as far as call it impossible.

If it is not possible, then why does it happen only when I take a crucial shot? Seems to much to be just a coincidence. It never happens on the break.
