Once you reach pro or virtuoso maybe you should hold that rank forever?

is there a chance to get pro/virtouso with playing ranked games ? because i just play tourneys, so was wondering will i be stuck on intermeidiate forever lmao

yep you'll be stuck forever because people are too scared to risk their holy ranking in tournaments where heaven forbid they may lose to a newbie.

Well, with enough demand there's no reason tournament games can't be ranked.

(and dont forget, those who play for rank dont mind losing to newbies, as they dont lose so much as losing to intermediates.. )

I understand what you mean, however the "tourney players" equivolent of what you ask for is like saying "if i win 10 tourneys a day, i want 10 tourney wins awarded to me everyday for the rest of time"



Dont forget, this is why the "highest achieved" stat was introduced, so you can blitz the ranked games, get to 999.9, and it will be there on your profile forever

rankings moving is fair enough whereas the title pro or virtuoso is status - once you've got there you don't suddenly become an intermediate player overnight!

LOL. If the rank ( had to be careful spelling that) didn't go down automatically, I'm sure people would be over 1000 mark...

why dont funkypool introduce a system so a tourney players status is determined by number of tourneys they win, i.e. 10 tourney wins on each version is intermeidiate, 20 on each is adept n so on, summit like that

I think the ranking system works really good as it is now!

the ranking system can stay as it is, i just think there should be something for the tourney players, just because we dont play ranked doesnt mean we should stay at intermeidiate forever, if someone like quick_pot didnt play ranked yet had the amount of tourneys he has got, intermeidiate status would be a joke to him as he is one of best plaers on here..

Daily rank deductions is a perfect system imo

People who care about having a high rank should have to defend it - not just sit back and enjoy it forever without having to work to maintain it.

It also prevents retired players from holding on to the top lists

Not with his win rate and tourny wins, look like a good profile to me!

Yes, thats true - however all those people are doing is showing their ignorance of how the ranking system actually works


This thread has gone a little off-topic.

myfriendfats wasn't suggesting that the rank POINTS should remain static, but that the STATUS of Professional or Virtuoso should remain.

There is a logic to this, since the player has been capable of that level.
However, those permanent statistics are there on the users profile, and doing this would cheapen the additional achievement of retaining the relevant status.
