Just an idea - probably been discussed elsewhere before so if so I apologise!! Instead of the current stats system, which has run from day one I assume, why don't they all get reset in order to begin a new system of seasons? At the moment - aside from the rankings - the top 50's all favour players who have been around for a long time and these will never change unless players decide to stop or delete. It can be depressing to be good at something be it run outs, gbs or tourney wins but know that the chances of getting to the top of the leader board are minimal simply because someone joined up in 2004/5 instead of last month. I believe this change might bring in a freshness to the site giving people a new incentive to strive hard for achievements. New players joining mid season can play themselves in before the new season starts and existing members can happily have time off from the site without worrying about their positions when they come back as everyone would start afresh at....

...the beginning of a new season. Not sure what the season lengths would be but maybe 3 months.
I am sure there are many reasons why this wouldn't work so please add your points of views or discussion points.

very good idea i reckon would love to see this happen, as it would put evryone on a level playing field, and more enjoyable as everyone will believe they got great chance of becoming champion

yes this is a good idea chris, dont think the players in top 50 will agree though mate, imagine someone like squeezy having his stats re-set, good chance of players leaving never coiming back, perhaps some players in top 100 say who have not been on here for like 6 months plus have an e/mail sent to them if no reply from mail within 2 weeks get there accounts deleted, if they havent been on for 6 months plus will they come back ? this will then re-shuffle things around and obviously give players more chance of getting in top 100 or top 50.
when wolves says about a level playing field in his posts thats the whole point of the 5 ranking system eg, newbie, intermediate and so on, this gives you the chance to climb to the top.

personally i think think this a bad idea for a few reasons. The players at the top would not like it and rightly so, they worked hard to get there so why take it away? and secondly if this is in realtion to people deleting and coming back and having to start all over well frankly its there own fault they made the choice to delete so they should pay the price. I also think that if this was the wasy things was to go we would lose alot of members who have been here for years and played hard to get to the top.
over all i dout this will ever happen.

Just looks like something to appease all these 'deleters'

Sure does 1_eye!
The simple fact is that doing this wouldmake all the stats meaningless.
There is no reason a new player cannot work their way to the top, indeed many do.
The top 50 have changed completely many times, and will continue to do so.
How can it possibly be fair to say that uses who have literally spent years building up their stats do not deserve to be at the top?
There is a very simple solution if you dont like the way the top 50 of something looks - practice, and work your way in there to change it.
Its important to think in years not weeks..

I fail to see any point with a stat reset every now and then, as long as we have the daily deductions for high rank players.
The system greatly favour the lower ranks and provides a good catch-up rate.
Quite frankly, for the players who put a big deal into rank in the first place, if you have such problems making your way up the ladder, no change to the system is gonna help you - only more practice and better performance on your own part will

Nice, i like the sound of it, but maybe seperating this idea with the stats that are in place and making up "season mode" perhaps.
Good thinking mate!

All valid points however 1) do people have more of a say on how the site should be simply based on how long they have been a member for? Most of the top players at the moment will still be the top players assuming they wish to devote the time to it - they may even feel that there is more of a competetive edge to it (in a fun way hopefully of course). They also may feel that this gives them a chance to draw breath, take a break, and go do something else for a while before returning fresh. 2) Its not a reaction to people deleting and there are many reasons why they do it - not always pleasant ones. And 3) It may even be possible to run the two side by side so that your 'career' stats remain whilst the new ones show the current state of competition. It may also give palyers who have got to pro status then ceased something additional to play for.

running side by side sounds good chris, but then being a seasonal thing wont it be to much like a clan, players may get bored of it and just go back to plan simple ranking games, as i am not to hot with things on a pc, would this affect the server in anyway ?.

The rankings may change - and those are easily manipulated by the way - but the other listings do not. For example assuming quick_pot and cityfan84 carry on playing without deleting city would either never catch him or be in an old peoples home by the time he does. All because city happened to sign up 8 months after quick. It would be better to see current form rather than length of service

Career/season modes should work like this, and in that form i think its a fine idea.
I fail to see how long term stats favour long term users though. Surely its more difficult for squeezy to maintain a 75% win percentage than newuser07 who has only played 2000 games!
The simple fact is that anyone who wants their stats reset every 3 months can do so now
And surely its much more fun to see if you can match quick_pot's tournament wins over the past 2 years than only a few months!
However, there could always be a "recent stats" page where you could view the stats for game types over the previous 3 months.
This would give you what you ask for without removing literally years worth of achievements for others.

why not just have an overall stats so the old players are happy, then have season'd stat's seperate so it's fair on everyone to see who can get the best profile in that season

Ok - again 1) the win percentage is not shown in a table anywhere anyway and that is not necessarily a true reflection because you can choose to play any opponent including guests and in friendlies. Nothing wrong with any of that at all but doesnt necessarily point to anyone's ability. 2) Of course you can reset your stats but it doesnt make you competetive and even if you dont reset you are still not competetive because someone has played for 2 years more than you. And 3) yes Wigan Athletic could never hope to match Man Utd's overall record of league titles but at the start of each season they begin at the same level

The idea's which have crept in above seem sensible as a season system.
Pre-allocated time units (Quarterly?) and a seperate stats page running throughout that season, with the final results for each quarter kept as a record if desired.
That way everyone's happy!
