Just couple ideas, if someone has brought these up before - shoot me ;)
1. Remaining tournament round time displayed in addition to the shot timer.
2. The 3 minute tournament invite time window needs to be much much shorter, or not count as part of the total tournament round time.
(Currently, some players join very close to the 3 minute deadline and regardless of being deliberate or not this shortens the time available for the actual game by an equal amount of time, being unfair compared to the other parallel tourny games being played)
3. Several players choose to rather lose to the clock than their opponents once they realize they face a better player. The game ought to somehow prevent that, although I have no idea how. Anyways it seems rather unfair that a player may simply choose to bring down an opponent by playing a semi decent safe game until the time runs out - which is perfectly possible as of now.
(and yes, I just got beat fair and square lol)

Another small detail that would been sweet was for the game window to list the owner's rank in addition to name, at least for ranked games.
I suspect the absence of rank is deliberate, but it would have saved a lot of people from joining games to check rank.

Great ideas, i don't like 3 minutes counting towards the overall time either, like you said it's a little unfair and especially if both the players get DQ'ued because of it.

Great ideas.
1. This is a decent addition, would help us and means we know how long we have.
2. Good idea as well, but people might be away from their computer (at toilet etc) i know i go get a drink or whatever while waiting for a tourny game. Maybe a compromise to 2 minutes?
3. I totally agree, over on snooker tournaments there's a default win in place with a win if you need more than 12 points from snookers, this should be added here, only with the idea of the person with the most balls potted going through.
Another addition i believe would be handy is the use of a different tournament structure. The one in place is great, i just think it should be a bit more specific so you know who you will be facing if you win. For example:

Yes but how would that structure work if a couple of hundred players entered?..it wouldn't lol
Maybe a little too complicated aswell

You can figure out who you will be facing if you study the old tournaments, however byes/dq's will make any system variable.
It was after the timer idea being suggested that the audio alert was introduced. Also, you can use your computers clock
Due to the small nubber of balls in pool, and the lack of a points system, there is very little can be done about the timer issue.
How do you decide who's winning in a game of 9ball?
The best suggestion i can think of is or whicever player's turn it is when the timer runs out to be disqualified.
This means pople would be ecouraged to play quickly, and couldn't hog the table to bring on a draw or they would lose.
Not perfect i know..
The displaying of rank in room details has been mentioned favourably many times, so may come at some time

Because if two people are supposed to play in the next round, and one game ends up in a double DQ, they will end up with a bye instead of the scheduled opponent..
(theres more variations obviously but thats an example)

i know that bit lol i meant how can you tell who you will face next
i thought it was totally random and that if you are in the same room as someone else left in the tourny then you are more likely to draw them.
i had a glance at the tournys played in the last 24 hours and couldnt see any obvious pattern that would show who would draw who next?
or have i just got what you meant wrong

afaik, they are drawn completely random from round to round, with absolutely nothing to affect it one way or another.
As for the tournament structure in general, I think it's quite fine as it is, with random draws each round. A binary tree requires a seeding system, much like what is used in tennis, to make sure you have good chances of getting the best ranked players in the finals rather than meet eachother early on. I don't think we need that kinda thing here.
