In tournanments, we play to win. But If we are knocked out before winning the final, there is no reward. Why can't ranking be introduce into tournaments somehow so rewards are benefited from reaching the semi-final or quater final. A tournament is a competitive match, surely you should gain from winning rounds or matches!

Can i have some feedback!!!

i think something similar has been discussed before gaining points could be an option but to lose them would take the competitive side ot of it. maybe there could be some kind of indication on your profile saying your furthest round you have reached in tourny.ofcourse thius does not apply to tournament winners.

I'm not so sure on this...
I'll use an example, quick_pot, no disrespect to him at all, he has won loads and loads of tournaments, and the rank he would gain from each of them would put him miles into the lead.

Yeh he's a good player, but constantly entering tournaments and winning rank would make a mess of the normal ranking system we have at the moment.

But then isnt this pointing out that the ranking system is actually a mess at the moment?

Surely the players winning more games (like quick_pot) should be at the top of the ranks?

Doent matter if its a tourney game or not, it's the same game and takes the same skill to win..

It would result in more people, especially the high rankers, entering more tournaments, which would be great.

The downside though, could be a decreasing number of the high rankers playing ranked games, and just playing for the 'free rank' gained in the tournaments.

I'm with Dave on this one.

Not sure what you mean by "free rank" danclivo?

The suggestion is to have tournament games ranked just like normal games, so you could lose rank as well..

I assumed that the suggestion was to award rank for tournement wins, but not to deduct rank for losses. Maybe i misread it

Would the amount of rank gained or lost depend on the opponent's rank as well? If so, even if you win the tournament, you could still end up with less rank than you started with (say if you won your games 2-1 against people with 650 rank). High ranked players would be put off.

I'm still edgy about it.

what would have to be done is a set points system, .5 points first round win/loss, 1 point 2nd round win/loss, and so on, summit like that..

I detaled how the win-but-lose-rank thing could happen in one of the other threads, but then that just adds to the fun!

After a period of time, things would settle down among tournament regulars meaning you would be less likely to meet lower ranked players in later rounds.

What if we made every 2nd tournament a ranked one? It will make the newbies that are trying to keep there ranking high as they can happy when it is a non rnaking tournament (exactly the same as it is now) and it will make the high-ranked professional happy when it is a ranked tournament!

How about we put that in the scheduale that the 'pro' tournament would be on? So when an old Pro tournament would have been on, it is a ranked tournament!

Keeps everyone happy!

Pointless doing it for some and not others. The whole lot should be ranked and that is the only way meaningful ranks will be achieved on funkypool.
