Binary can have as many digits as you want, but they can only be either 1 or 0. (Hence the name)

since the question is can you and not how to my answer is Yes i can. lol. (probably using milly's help).
but.... i think since all digits are in the range 0 to 7 , milly is talking about octal number system. and probably she wants to convert the octal numbers to the most popular number system that we use in our day today life (i.e. decimal). if milly means this then, just use the formula 8^1*lsb1 + 8^2*lsb2 + 8^3*lsb3 (where lsb stands for the least significant bits) to get a single decimal digit for each and every 3 digit groups mentioned in the code. the result will be the converted string .

And if every 040 is a space, then no word appears more then once.

i think it's some form of code that was used in the war so the Germans couldn't figure out what was being said.

umm that was navajo i think a native american langauge that was used in ww1 or 2 i cant remember lol but wouldnt surprise me if we used number codes too which chances are we still use today but, i think we need a bit more of a clue then find the message lol or maybe im an idiot... but i think mari is right on this one lol
