That's quite true I know what it can be like sometimes, how about when your in a game and people join its upto you to decide to somehow 'Ignore the room', there could be a little button saying 'Ignore room'and you won't get the messages... This has been discussed in another thread too

Please use the send complaint button to send any abusive chatlogs so that such users can be dealt with.
Clicking the users name, then the ignore button on the PM box, means they will never bother you again.

I know how frustrating it can be, as you will imagine, staff members tend to draw undesirables like flies to a cream bun..
How about the option to have a "visitors mute" selection?
Most people who genuinely want to watch a game, for whatever reason, wont be likely to chat anyway..

Yup very good idea spinner, would be good if it could be added to funkypool

Excellent idea spinner. That would also solve the problem of the odd few who join games to help out friends with a bit of distraction.
It shouldn't be a blanket-mute as some groups of friends treat games as a mini-chatroom , but like you say - a selection facility would be great, as long as it only need be selected by one player of the two to activate

It need only apply to one player.
That way a group os player a's friends can come in and "cheer him on" without distrcting player b.

I like this idea. Although it might hinder me and my entourage!

I meant more that if one player wants there to be a spectator-mute, then it mutes the spectators for all.
Otherwise it would be no different than the ignore button, and it's equally distracting to hear your opponent answering an ignored spectator with something like 'Yeah, I agree mate, he is playing rubbish', and 'No idea why he's not answering you mate.'
