dont know if this has been discussed but i think maybe after 6 months if people hevent logged in they should lose there membership because then some of the more regular plyers can have there first choice names and not have to mess so much time in finding a new identity.

Good point... But, I don't think they should completely lose their membership, in my opinion, if a member does not log in for a certain time period his/her account should be expired, basically meaning whilst his/her account has been expired someone else can take their user name and when the the user who's account has been expired, logs in, he/she has an option saying something like "re-new account". So, all they have to do is think of another name and press "accept" and they will have their stats, but just with another user name...Your thoughts?

Been discussed many many times
Have a look through the forums and you will see the many different ideas posted.
Personally i think it should be a year, then a reminder email sent giving a month to log in. Clearly there would also need to be an "account parking" option for people who take time out to travel/work etc.
I'd also like to see this combined with the removal of the delete option.

It has? I do apologise lol, never realised it's been discussed elsewhere... I like your idea spinner!

Its ok, new threads just show how much demand there is for certain things.
In fairness, the removal of inactive members usually comes secondary to threads about the removal of the option to delete, or only having active players rank in tables.
All these issues are tied together so a fresh approach is fine..
Always good to see new members input!

Having so many members active or not is good ammunition when selling advertising space to generate income for the site.
So on that basis i disagree, saying that if advertisers are unaware of members numbers, regardless of them being active or not then deleting names and 'stale' accounts is a good thing.
But imagine this...You own a company and you wish too sell online and you are approached by funkypool to advertise on this site and it has 40'000+ members.......looks good doesnt it? All those eyes that see there product when playing pool.
But if the members are reduced to....lets say as an example 500... wouldnt look so inviting to an advertiser now would it?

I reckon Nick has probably signed up at least 5 or 6 thousand times.
Seriously though, theres plenty of names left over. Its always gonna be unlikey John will be able to play as 'John'
I do agree that account suspension after a year enabling someone else to take the name is fair. As long as its a new member of course. One for one. Therefore no reduction of user numbers.
