Surely there should be a difference between winning a frame by 6 or 7 balls than on the black or by foul on the black, when it comes to ranking changes. Maybe there could be a bonus added if its a large margin of victory?

both gud points, i like the idea, bt sayin tht so many ppl are lucky when it comes to 9 ball etc tht flukin a shot at strt with no skill would result in gettin more points, so more ppl would be hittin n hoping which does my nut in lol

Someone who can make a clearance is no better than a player who can snooker the other player with only 3 balls left on the table.

Different people have different styles of play and it would be unfair on those who dont go for the big clearances.

I disagree, im referring to the margin of victory rather than the manner of victory, and although there may be players with different 'styles' of play, everyone is capable of winning by 6 or 7 balls, whether it be as a result of a snooker, complete luck or from talent!

Essentially we all try to pot our balls before our opponent but in reality it is trickier than we think. Thus in my opinion 6 and 7 ballers are rare enough these days to warrent a 0.3-0.5 point bonus.

i like that idea like say u get a golden break or 7 ballin you get 2 or 3 extra poins and the opponent still loses the sae amount as they usually do in a proper match

come on nick we now you can do this for us

Nah man, 2 or 3 points is rather extravegant. 0.5 to 1.5 points would suffice.

yes i no but it is rare and hard to get run outs, 7 ballings and golden breaks so i think it would be right

This has nothing to do with golden breaks and run outs mate, unless of course the run out results in a 6 or 7 baller...

I dont think that golden breaks should be encouraged, everyone tries the same break, it gets boring.

A tactic I often use when I'm playing well is let the opponent pot 3-5 of their balls then trap their remaining two, forcing the foul, which then allows me to clear up.

In my opinion, doing that requires a lot more skill than simply potting all the balls, it also leads to a more interesting game and should therefore be encouraged.

Having a little bonus for the winner, would this 'bonus' be deducted from the loser? Not very fair if it's a run out.

Negotiating your way around a cluttered table, ie. gaining good position for your next shot while avoiding the opponents balls in my opinion has more skill than rolling up behind your ball like a coward and should be encouraged more than anything..

The loser would not disadvantaged by an extra points deduction...Perhaps the bonus points could be provided by the daily points reduction fund!

Regarding where points were to come from - any points gained HAVE to be deducted from the loser. It may seem silly but there are only so many points to go around, so to speak.

At the end of the day, all forms of play which go towards a win are equal. I personally agree with squeezy's style. I enjoy and appreciate a tactical game where someone thinks ahead and uses snookers/positional play to gain the advantage rather than just pot everything in sight!

The only fair way to award points is for a win.

Other achievements are already recognised.
