i was wondering, is there anything set up in case someone ever gets to 1000 points, i know its not likely but it may happen some day, if it does whats it called?
also has anyone done it before?

Ideally, no players should be able to reach the extreme limits of the rankings system. If they do, the system is flawed as we can not differentiate between 2 players on the maximum.

Therefore it is (roughly) exponentially more difficult for players above 900 points to reach 1000 points.

An amount is reduced from scores, this is known as the edge modification

The actual amount is linear, at 900 points you lose 0%; at 950 points you lose 25%. If you get past 950 points it becomes even more severe, eventually resulting in a 100% loss of points at 1000.

The inverse occurs for users with scores below 600.

On 900.00 are you a still ranked as a pro.

Therefore on 1000.00 you would still be virtuoso.

You'd also be winning about 0.05 per win against someone with a 700 rating lol...if that.

You'd need a 80 game winning streak against players ranked 850+

It's easily possible to get about 20...on a very good day, dam near impossible to win about 40 in a row though...and 80?! jeez...

I cant see it happening unless there are a lot more players with higher ratings.

there was talk about this on another thread, its virtually impossible to get 1000 points, there for virtuoso is the highest you can get, people was saying that maybe should be world class but if no one can physically reach 1000 then no point is there

It's definitely not impossible to get to 1000.00 points, look on funkysnooker, there are many players that have ranks above 950's.

I think it's possible to get that on funkypool too.

It's not impossible but is is more likely you won't get it and vice versa.

PS- I'll be the first one on funkypool to reach 1000.00 points

You get more points winning a frame of snooker than what you do when you win a game of pool. In the two years that I have been coming on here, the rank has never moved much above 900 so anyone who thinks they can get to 1000 is kidding themselves on

What if 2 people get to about 970 or whatever, how much would they get if they won a game?

I asked for your highest rank out of interest because you said the two years you've been playing, you've never been much over 900.00. Was just a little intersted to know lol oh well.

Lol, bit of misunderstanding going on. I said the rank (not meaning mine!) has never been much over 900, as in me just looking at the top rankings table. Lol I am lucky if I get above 750. As for my highest, no idea, lol don't pay much attention to my stats.

the best ranking i have ever saw was pagulyan and he was 950 but sadly he deleted but yes it's virtually impossible to get to 1000 rank the only way it's possible is if the ranking system changes.
