My friend has one, and they only just found a doctor who would deal with it, she's 25 and having surgery and braces on her teeth now. And yes Pj, my son had the full cleft lip and palate, although it wasn't terrible, and you can hardly tell now that he had anything there.

Best of luck to your freind, although why couldn't she get the help she needed? Bit shocking really. Shame she don't live in good old blighty, we got some great surgeons here.

Her mum didn't want her to have the surgery for religious reasons and when she was old enough, doctors didn't want to do it cause she was too old, and some other medical problem I can't remember. She's just lucky it's not THAT bad really. She's still pretty.

Really? Religous reasons? How nice of her! (Sorry but from knowing what it's like to have something on your face that others might not deem normal, gets my back up when someone who is 'normal' thinks it's ok to make a decsion for someone else to live like that.)
