I see what your saying but i think if they could do it without the 3D then it would be good.

Love the way this is still on topic!

See, they dropped the ball with Sonic.

I'm sure there are a whole lot of fans of sonic 3D, and maybe they dont like the 2D games. However unlike sega, Nick also has to be sure to keep his "Sonic 2D" fans happy as well or he has to start all over again.

maybe you could block the bottom half of the white when you're less than 1 inch from the rail but how do you stop back spin on touching balls?

The spin etc... Is fine. I don't think there is any room for improvement on the spin against the cushions to me it seems perfectly fine. I agree with myfriendfats, leave it at that.

Just to clarify my statement before.

Although FP would stay a 2D game, to be able to detect these things would require a 3D game engine.

Proximity to the rail isn't good enough in itself, because it depends on the direction of the planned shot. For example, you can be right on the rail, but shooting along it, you need full access to the cue ball.

Hope that made sense!

Yes I thought of that soon after I posted!

At the end of the day this game is as addictive as you can get so it doesn't need changing. If it did I hope it would be in the form of how the balls behave rather than how you play it e.g. balls clashing at speed = curvature of path following collision

One of the most frustrating and boring things in real pool is not being able to take the shot you want, because you're stuck on the rail.

Funkypool has managed to bypass that. Lets not try to bring in frustrating and boring.

I was thinking about this thread when I was playing and I know why it's so addictive - it's because it's quick and easy to play the shots you want to play and it means you can play like you can't in real life. I love the tactics, that's what it's all about to me and I'm learning for when I next play real pool.

Let me just say - i have argued with both against and with you in the past. And this is perhaps, the best post ever on these forums!
