I suggested this a while back but got no feedback. OK here it is:
As the pro games have now been removed what are your thoughts on increasing the size of the current table by 20% or so - sort of mid way between the two sizes?
The current table isn't perfect - the balls block each other too easily and it doesn't represent a real life pool table (I'm guessing like the pro tables did). With a little bit more room it would be slightly more playable and long pots which are currently certainties would have a little bit of risk to them and would help stretch the field a bit more which can only be a good thing.
The equivalent would be making the balls or pockets slightly smaller but I think making the table mid-way betweent the two would be better and people wouldn't notice after a couple of games.

I'm also going on instinct that says introducing the smaller tables didn't really increase the number of users above what time would have done anyway seeing as it's addictive as *a rude word*.

I think this could help you, unless I'm completely wrong!
But in the bottom right corner of your Funkypool screen there is something that says '100%', you can click that and change the percentage, the smaller the percentage, the bigger the table, and the smaller the adverts.

yes I know this (I also know how to get rid of the ads but I'd get deleted if I told you!).
Fact remains that no matter how big you have the table on screen everything is relative so what I've said still applies.

UK 8 ball is argueably the easiest, and it's the most popular.
Rather than have the game itself challenge you aim for things that are hard to acheive, such as 900.0 rating on 9 ball... you'll come to realise it's not that easy when u kick yourself everytime you miss those shots that you know you should have potted. That way you get to enjoy the ease of play while also getting a challenge. Trust me it keeps you entertained
If you want a hard game, try the snooker

I think you might need Internet Explorer 7 for what I said.

I don't want a hard game as such, I just think that the ideal table size is smaller than pro but bigger than the current. It doesn't need increasing that much but 20% would make all the difference and a point I've made in previous posts is that the better players preferred pro and I am one of the better players and I feel like I know what I'm talking about.
Surely the better players who come here more often deserve to be heard more than some fool who has played 50 games of 8 ball and has a 37% win record?!
Anyway, I just wanted to know what Nicks thoughts were on the matter. I don't think the current table size is the most playable for me that's all but I'll still take on anyone who thinks it means I can't play on them!
:-p

Anyway, the word I'm looking for is "optimum". I don't believe the current size is the optimum size. Once there then we can move on!

These people are more important than you are. The ability of a player doesn't make them any more or less important than another. The length of time they have been on the site and how they conduct themselves is what is important as it helps the site to grow.

I meant 50 games!
I know what you're saying but it was an error on my part - I was posting during a game!
Anyway, you're the one who defended people who don't agree with homosexuality in another topic as being people who need to be considered! That was a silly remark.
What I'm saying is that you're a yes man and as such I don't take what you say seriously.

Maybe itis slightly off forum topic, but I can't understand why the pro games have gone at all, I quite enjoyed the challenge that pro games brought, and they seemed popular enough in my eyes

The point I was making is that there are some who would take a completely opposite viewpoint to the one being stated.
What is meant be the area i've put in bold, I don't know.
In the thread that you referred I didn't give my opinion, merely a different way of looking at what the thread was based on. It's important to see things from another's point of view even if you do disagree with it. If you had bothered to read the rest of that thread you would see that I said I agreed with what was said in the first post. I also don't appreciate you saying 'you dont take me seriously' for me putting a view accross, however everyone has an opinion and you are entitled to yours on this too.

I see your point and I reacted to "These people are more important than you are. " and I got out of bed the wrong side this morning so don't get the wrong idea. I can see you're young and you're trying to be impartial but as you get on in life you learn more about where the lines are drawn...
Anyway, this is detracting from the point of this thread which I think is a good idea and should appease the folk who loved the pro tables (of which there are many). Get the size of table right then lets move on and go to the next level which will hopefully involve some interesting new game formats.

but i like the new tables and so do the majority of the users. you are just a number to nick and if 99% prefer the new tables and 1% perfer the older one what would you do? I worked my bum off on 9ball pro and ended with 77rank. i am also grieving for the pro tables but i can see nicks point. seems to me you are just having another dummy spit - same as every other pro games thread.
19:01 Thu 17 May 07 (BST) [Link]
only 99% of the threads?
Seriously myfriendfats - as you know i have tried many ideas for ways to revive the pro games but facts are facts, the new tables are infinitely more popular.
The excercise you suggest is basically exactly what was done that led us to the new tables we have now.
Please try to remember we are all just users here. Someone of 600 rank who plays a few games every weekend is just as much a supporter of the site as any of the "better" players. Indeed they probably get much more enjoyment from it!
(The very idea of Squeezy being a yes-man had me LOL!)
I'm sure Nick will let you know his thoughts in due course.

fair point and for the record I'm not thinking I'm more important than anyone else (even if I may come across that way sometimes) I'm thinking that I'm speaking on behalf of the many people who loved the pro games.
Once again the point I'm trying to make is that for maximum playability I think the balls need to be slightly smaller than they are because they block each other too easily and to compensate I don't think the shot speed is sensitive enough therefore it's harder to play perfect pool!

I actually agree, slightly smaller balle swould be a nice compromise. But if I were in a position to change it I probably wouldn't because subconsciously, your attitude has annoyed me so much myfriendfats.
You insult users, calling them 'yes men' and 'fools'
This forum really isn't for you with that kind of attitude. We don't demean and degrade other players to get our points accross.
