was just wondering if funkypool could strt up a points for tournement win sytem, were if you win a full tournement you get summit like 10 points on your ranking dependin on what type of tournement it is

Well, this has been discussed many times before, so to "cut to the chase", so to speak, the problem with a points for wins system is that some players who specialise in tournaments would end up top of the ranking tables in no time. Which is unfair on those who work very hard for thier rank.

Remember you already get rewarded for winning a tournament. A tourney win on your stats is permanent too. A few rank points could be gone in no time.

The simplest workable solution would be to have tournament games ranked.

That way, to win the tourney you will have had to win at least 8 ranked games. Even if your average win is only 2 points, that still means the winner has gained 16 points!

This would also mix up the ranks a bit and personally i think its a great idea.

well why dont you have a high score table eg:
Newbies top ten players:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
etc....
and keep doing that up to virtuoso.

Why not have a seperate tournament table with ranks this way the people who always win will only be top of the tourny ranking table and not the full ranking tables.

We already have this in the form of the tournament wins table. Any ranking would simply be a multiple of the number of games won.

But the problem with making tournamnts ranked is that someone like me who is a 657 in 8 ball UK, beats someone like pool_machine (which I have done!!) , pool_machine would lose so many points to me as he would probobly not have played me in a normal ranked game.

And it is also another way to drain points away from the below averge player.

But spinners other point was also good. Just look at the guys who have won 100's of tournaments. Their rank would be near 1200 by now.

And I have only ever won one tournament. When you know that if you win one thats a fluke very rearly, you might aswell foreget the extra points.

But hey!! You get a big announcement. What more could you want. And it goes to your profile as well!! (As spinner said)

Thats not a problem, thats the best thing about it!

There are a few users in the higher ranking category who wouldn't be if it wasn't for them being picky about who they play, this would go a little way towards changing that.

hmmm, good point. If ranked tournaments were in, i would be in a higher rank!! MUCH higher

I concentrate on tournaments mainly but it's good having two seperate things to aim at ie tourny wins and ranking points.

I'd like to see as a stat on profiles maximum ranking points reached because as we know if we're away for a bit they eventually settle on 800 having lost no more games since your highest ranking.

Incidentally I played someone earlier and we were both at 800 and at 8-8 in games I was on 804 and he was on 797.

Work that one out!

LOL thats the beauty of the ranking system.

If you had both been on 750, it would have been even.



The highest rank reached has been asked for on both sites, so hopefully we will see that soon.

while were on the subject of rank i think we should have the highest rank you have achieved on the profile,anyone else think it's a good idea

i agree with spinner but l i think if there was some form of seperate ranking system for tourny games.
would be intresting and make tournament games a lil more competetive.
this wouldnt effect any 1's place on the rank table's or overall .
possibly a seperate rank tables for tournaments.

for every tournament you win you will have an additional 5points added , 3 for semi's , 1 for quarters . and half for every match you win up to the quarters.
if you loose your match you loose half a point.

I think gaining points for tournament is a great idea, although it could be pretty unfair on the slightly weaker players, I think sticking to the system of having a permanent record of tournament wins on your profile is good, like spinner said, gained points could be lost easily where as having a permanent tournament win on your profile is there forever.
I think a lot of you will disagree with me but having ranks for tournaments will be a little too much, don't you guys think?
