I hate it when I log on one minitue before a tournament and then my computer goes slow so I miss out on the tournament by a few seconds.
So what if..When you log in and a tournament is coming, the system automacticly enroles you into the tournament. Even if you are online when the tournament is avaliable to join, the computer automacticly joins you.

Think of all the time wasting BYE's and having to wait for people that want to be a pain in the backside.

What byes.
Yeah byes but that doesnt make a difference. Byes dont add to the game time.
Most of the byes are in the 1st round. Byes make no difference to the tournament and YOU CAN SIMPLY NOT CHOOSE TO BE AUTOMATCICLY ENROLED.

Most people would select the auto option, so that they won't miss tournaments. But at least half the times they then log in, they won't have time for a tourny and will be just in for a couple of quick games.
Trouble is that if loads of people select to be automatically enrolled, which they will, every tournament will be massively over-subscribed by people not playing. People who want to play won't get in.
And virtually every first round game will be a bye, with even more byes in the next two rounds through logged out users who got a bye first round with no intention of playing.
It's a good idea, but I actually think it would cause tournaments to become drawn out and boring due to lack of games.
Also, even an auto-enrollment would disqualify you if you weren't logged onto the game screen when it starts, so there'd be no difference from just entering the tournament before you enter the game.

y do we have so many byes in the tournaments i think it just makes the tourney longer

So do i.
Bye's are necessary to even out the following rounds.
Obviously the rounds have to go 128-64-32-16-8-4-2-winner.
So unless you have exactly one of those numbers to start with, it has to be evened out.
The simplified version is to imagine only 3 people enter:
1 v 2
3 gets a bye so there are 2 people in the final.
