But it gives 1 player an advantage because the balls will be spread out unfairly. it wont be a big difference but it is still a difference.

no, how will it give the other player an advantage?

1. the other player has to clear up
2. they very rarely do
3. there will be no advantage anyway because even if the rack is done PROPERLY, they can till split in ONE player's favour.

it' how you break, nothing to do with the rack setup, i have broke and had them all equally set-up ( not literally ), and also broken to go on one player's favour... it's the way the game goes mate, nothing to do with the rack setup at all

OH MY GOD!!

In testing our theory I repeatedly pressed the 'rack balls' button on the practice table. try it. turn's out, to create random breaks, the balls are actually milimetres apart.

Keep pressing it and you'll see!

Im not too sure but is it not right already and your wrong? The bottom row is not meant to go red yellow red yellow etc. The last two in the row are the same colour

as pool said thats what makes this funky and also i see what you mean micky i think he means that sometimes about 5 of the red might be iin the center which leaves alot of the yellows on the outside which meanss when you break it will spread the yellows out more??

Is that what your saying micky?

Yep, the balls move slightly so that no one can repeatedly do the golden break.
I think those days of getting a golden break every 5 minutes are over.

ON TOPIC: It doesn't really matter how the rack is set up, we all hit them at the end of the day.

Actually, the current rack IS wrong according to the new EPA World rules (which are used in most UK 8 ball tournaments), but correct according to the old EPA and current BAPTO rules.

New EPA World Rules (take note of the bottom row):
http://www.epa.org.uk/wrules.php

Comparison of the 3 sets of rules (apologies if the site name is against swearing rules, maybe a mod could edit it out but keep the link active, if that's possible):

Well...I'm afraid to say this is funkypool not EPA World Rules or whatever.
Red, yellow, red, yellow...
I don't have a clue what you are on about but the main thing is that all the balls are there.
At the end of the day it depends on what rules you play.
I couldn't care what order the balls are in just as long as there are the right amount of balls and they are round lol.

True, I don't really care either. Just thought I'd point out that micky isn't technically wrong. The way they're racked now is how I always play in the pub anyway, and I think most people get it wrong since the rule change.
