Hey all

Here's an idea which may intersting you all. How about a tournemant that's not at a fixed time but happens all the time? As such? Everybody who is logged on and eligible to receive an invite receives one. Here's how it would work.

The tournament is first set-up, and everyone is automatically entered, the draw is done, and everyone receives an invite. And they've got the usual 3 mins to enter. Of course a lot of people couldn't be bothered, so... they just don't bother. Happy days.

The tournament then progresses as normal, and we have a winner. Then, as soon as it's all over, BOING!!! the next tournament starts, again inviting everyone to take part. In this way there is a constant stream of competitive action taking place. And a chance for people to get their name on the list of winners without having to wait for a particular time of the day.

There'll be drawbacks, I know..... (con't)

A lot of people might not appreciate a BOING!!!!!! randomly during the hour in the middle of a game or whatever. Plus, if such a thing were implemented in all 5 versions of pool, that would leave a lot of BOINGGGGGG!!!!!!!!s going on.

Also, what is there was severe disinterest? Or you couldn't take part cos you were already in a game? Or in a tourney? You might have just a handful of players taking part, and if only, say, 20 players participate, then you'd get a very devalued competition. And a very short one, adding to the BOING!!!!! rate.

Pros: everyone online at that moment can instantly enter a tournament, and the winner can instantly defend his/her title.

And if the idea of inviting everyone ain't appealing (cos of the non-participation rate and the effect it would have on the logistics, a lot of DQ-DQs, etc), then perhaps allow everyone one minute to confirm their participation, and then, when the draw is done, the usual three to accept the invite. Also, it couls be extended a bit by making it, say, best of 5 or something, adding to the appeal of it.

Your opinions, amigos?

I do get it, and i do see where you're coming from. However it would have a pretty detrimental effect on the existing tournaments.

You could have a similar system where people entered a que to be given 30 seconds to accept an invite to fill any vacated "BYE" spaces at the start of each round..

Keep it simple...

Have a winner stays on.

Yessss, I actually like that idea..... Would be very good over at funkysnooker as well where, as we both know, they shut the door on tournaments after 64 entrants have entered.

i luv your idea the first 1 clooneman think it would be great

another 2 great additions i think would be cuttharoat
and 3-way 9 ball

cutthoroat like 8 ball you have 5 balls each 3-way and they object is to pot all your opponents balls
so some1 will have 1-5 then 6-10 then 11-15
so if you have potted all off one of your opponents balls they are out and you just need to get rid of the others.

And i don't think i have to say to much about 3-way 9 ball
just 9 ball but 3 people in the game if you miss the 7 you most likely aren't going to win

Now that may also work.

With all the "boinging" going on, what if people 'subscribed' to tournaments. Like, if you hated US 8 ball, you would just ignor it but if you turned off 8 ball tournies then the person wont be annoyed with the boings!!

Sorry all for bringing this up again... :) To supplement my original idea, how about whenever 64 (or 32, or 128, or 2^n) players were logged on, if suddenly they were all invited to take part in one of these rolling tournaments?

It's not something I'm gonna keep bringing up just to get it on page one, but I just got the idea now when I noticed there were exactly 256 online or something.

It's a good idea, but it would distrupt the tournaments already in progress.
