Decided to finally try out IE7 properly. Got this TWICE in the first 3 hours, plus it decided it was 'not responding' once . IE6 occasionally did this, and Opera NEVER has when I've been using that.
Anyone know if any settings can be changed to stop this, or is it just a general problem with IE7? Or maybe I've just been unlucky?
At the moment, I'm keeping Opera as my main browser and re-installing IE6 as my secondary unless I can fix IE7.

I've never seen that and i've been using IE7 on all my systems since the 2nd Beta!
Did you remember to follow the instructions about un-installing IE6 first? Thats the only thing i can think of that may have caused a problem.

Happen alot of the time when i was using IE7 even if i wasnt on pool...
Ive stuck to using IE6...can occasionally get the problem on here, but that's only if i have too many programs running at one time.

Spinner, I don't think you can fully uninstall IE6 as it's embedded in XP. I've tried that before, but only the shortcuts actually get deleted. If you search for IE you find its still hidden in the system. I did follow all the instructions on microsoft's site though.
Like I said though, its only my secondary browser. I like Opera a lot (it's reliable and quite a bit faster than IE), but very occasionally there is a site that isnt compatible with it so I need a backup. Not sure Firefox is all it's cracked up to be. Unless FF2 is better than the original. Ahh well, thanks guys.

IE7 is far more reliable than 6.
as for firefox well just dont get me started.
the crashing of IE in general whether version 6 or 7 seems to be determined by the amount of pagefile usage on your system. One simple method i used to aid this cause was just to run msconfig.
(p.s since i altered that IE7 has run as smoothly as lurpak spreadable )

After trying your suggestions and seeing little improvement I've ditched IE altogether now. I'm still using Opera as my main browser, and I've found one called K-Meleon to use as my secondary. It's light on features but pretty fast, and I've had no problems with it so far.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
