From what i remember Piaget argued that childrens cognitive development goes through four stages.

Go to the library and take out this book.

Wadsworth, B.J. (1989). Piagets theory of cognitive and affective development (4th ed.). New York: Longman.

Some systems of primary and secondary school education are based on Piaget's theory, but theories of cognitive development in the main deemphasize the role of culture in cognitive development.

That is very true ^^, Piaget didn't take into account the social influence towards a childs development, on the other hand of the scale there was a russian psychologist (forget his name) who believed it was all social influence that aided a childs cognitive development, we now know it's both biological and social! It was for stages i won't go into them as you will be very board unless you really like this kind of stuff!

1984, are you studying psychology?

No, m in my third year of an Anthropology degree, we don't study the mind and how it works we look at societies and cultures and how they affect social behaviour, but i have read Piaget when i did a GCSE in Psychology. I agree with you that most scientists now understand that nature and nurture play a part.

It's actually quite simple when you get into it, just like anything rudder's, if you ain't learnt it, you won't know nowt about it! However it is extremley interesting!

Good stuff 1984, what do you want to do after your degree?

We generally try not to refer to unfortunate people as mental rudders!
This country has a real problem with society and drug use and i think 1984's job will be very tough, but hopefully very fulfilling!

Hello, thought i'd use this thread rather making a new one.

I have a lil' presentation to do tomorrow on Glanzer and Cunitz serial position curve, and beings this isn't part of my syllabis i'm struggling to understand it a bit, i also think i need an example of what they did, so if anyone has a decent link could they post it for me, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.
