Has anyone succesfully potted the black off the break?
Can people do this on purpose?
If so, how?

this is the Golden Break discussion .....i have done it 20 times so far, some argue theres a skill too it (many have done loads more than myself) and some argue its pure luck.
I break off from roughly the same place and hit the same object ball roughly the same place and sometimes the black will generally go in the middle pocket, but more often than not i wont get a golden break.
Personally i think theres a little bit skill (knowing where to place the white and where to hit the correct object ball)and a bit of luck in it myself, or we would all do it successfully and the ones who have 100 + GB's would have more than they have now.

Well i heard the way to pot the black of the break is to place the white ball near the corner of the white D, to the left, Hit it with full power, skimming the 2nd/3rd ball on the RIGHT hand side (dont hit the 1st) And the ball should gently knock the triangle and the white should rebound off the bunker and smash into the back of the triangle leaving the black to full into middle pocket.
Note i have tried to use this, but never suceeded, i have seen people do it, the way ^ said, and this doesnt work everytime, it apparently works every 20-30 shots u do it.

Here's the GB shot : http://youtube.com/watch?v=mBIhoQKhmiA
And there is no skill involved whatsomever, as Martin_Blank said: "wanted to prove that this shot requires no skill....and it's just taken me a total of 20 mins to train my 6 year old niece (who has never played this game before, to make a GB once in every eight attempts. Give her a day or two, she will be at the standard of our specialists on here. Lot of skill required aint there? A six year old can do it in just over quarter of an hour.
Can u see the same six year old pulling off a run out or a 7balling? She can't even work out the angles. But put a ball on the D and smack it at another ball - no problem "
The abuse of the GB shot was what lead to the recent change of game start procedure. Just have a read back through the forums, there is plenty of discussion on it!
Generally now though, playing the GB shot is seen as unsporting and, well, a sign of being a "nOOb"

I disagree with you there spinner, i think there is a certain amount of skill involved in a gb hence the fact some ppl have loads others don't, as for it being unsporting, is snookering unsporting? i think it's part of a persons game! And you play to your strengths!
EDIT: I forgot to smile and wink!

Well, i'm not gonna start the old argument again, its all here to read on the forums.
But in short, if it were fair, would Nick have gone to all that bother to change how the game is played to get round the problem?
(and yes, there is *some* skill involved, exactly the same amount of skill required to pot the white into an open pocket!)
