Anyone else into DVD cover design?

When you own the DVD's theres no law against it dude! (so long as you dont sell them)

fox is one of the companies who supply PSD's of characters etc if you want to design covers and send to them, some people get lucky and make a fortune!

(The South Park covers were fan art)

i understand what you are saying,but too me its just using characters from the series,like other 24 covers (or any other film for that matter)so, no offence meant , but it looks nothing 'special'.
In my Job i see 100's if not 1000's of designs and if it was something that had the 'wow' factor then all well and good but all i see is the characters pictures put in a uniform manner with Jack Bauer as the main (for obvious reasons)Image on the front, then on the side of all the jewel cases.....Its Nothing new, sorry to be negative but thats my opinion, but good luck in your quest.

Understood Tidnab! But my goal has always been to produce something that looks authentic (as much like the studio produces) but without the glaring errors they make like giving away character and storyline twists.

Sure it could be a psycadelic stereogram with a hidden mesasage written backwards in hebrew that made you go "WOW whats that" when you see it, but if its a DVD cover for 24, it should have the numbers "24" and Jack Bauer on it, and the absolute minimum of anything else!

I must admit your images look very.....well very much like DVD box set work.....so i guess displayed 'side on' they sell the whole package.

Im not sure if you want to be a designer or if you are just trying to replicate what others have done....if its the latter then its a good job!

Well its just a hobby for me that sorta spawned from my work-related tasks of producing photo-realistic mock ups of proposed constructions, and website design.

Also, so many "genuine" covers are truely awful these days (have you seend the actual Day 5 box set?!?) that i like to replace them with something i find more appealing.

So i guess i want to replicate what others *should* have done!
