I know in the past i have pointed quite a few people to using AVG antivirun after the problems some have had with Norton and Java (or norton full stop)

AVG has started flashing up that by January the free deition will be discontinued, however if you upgrade to version 7.5 you will be fine.

This is still going to be free but the AVG site is a little complicated so here is the info to save you hunting!

The updated program is here :

Follow these instructions to update, paying attention to select "Repair Installation" at the right time:

Run the AVG Free Edition 7.5 Setup program
Click "Next >" on the AVG "Welcome!" screen
Click "Accept" on the "License Agreement on Use of an AVG Free Edition" screen
Select "Repair installation" on the "Select Setup Type" screen and click "Next >"

I got told anything thats free aint worth it! Apparently someone i know (2 ppl in fact) have used AVG for free and its clogged they're comp up!
But hey, i dont know cos ive never used it

Anything you pay for is a rip off...

Think about it, why use someting free if it doesn't just simply work?

The only way AVG may "clog anything up" is if you are not careful and end up instaling the firewalls etc.. (not written by them) Hence the reason for my post...

(BTW - at work i'm forced to use Norton, and i'm happy to admit that when things go wrong, i just use AVG to clean em up!)
